New Transformers forum – sign up now

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on July 29, 2011 | Site Updates |

For those who haven’t noticed, we have a new forum here at TheTransformers.Net. Our first forum, on a system called ‘toast’ launched way back in the beginning of the last decade (yep, we’re that old) and was replaced around 2004 with the Web Wiz forum you can still see over at TheTF.Net. Now however we’ve come bounding into the 21st Century with our new forum, located on this very domain, powered by vbulletin.

tf-forumThis new forum has such super sexy cool features as Facebook integration, birthday reminders, personal galleries and more bells and whistles than a Morris Dancers’ convention.

So, sign up to this new forum ASAP to ensure you get the username you want before someone else nabs it. Our old forum, over at TheTF.Net, will be live and running for a week or so yet but will be locked down before Auto Assembly so that the new forum can take us into the next ten years of Transformers worship. The URL TheTF.Net will be redirected to our new forum, but all of the old posts will be saved and archived so that you can still read them if you want – your work will not be lost 😉

See you there people!

26 days to go until fans from across Europe and the rest of the world gather in Birmingham for Auto Assembly 2011, and we’re still working hard to make this the biggest and best convention we have ever created. Not satisfied with what we have already go lined up for you, we can now bring you details of our next guest…
Returning once again as our FOURTEENTH guest this year is comic artist Lee Bradley. Lee’s work will be familiar to UK fans through his ongoing work for Titan Magazines on their Transformers comic doing interior illustrations, comic strips and their “How To Draw…” series.

Lee joins our extensive line up which already includes Gregg Berger, David Kaye, David Wise, Simon Furman, Andrew Wildman, Nick Roche, Geoff Senior, James Roberts, Simon Williams, Liam Shalloo, Kris Carter, Jason Cardy and Kat Nicholson!
Fourteen guests not enough for you? Well, we can now confirm details of this year’s FREE Workshops that will be taking place during the convention weekend as well! Spread throughout the weekend will be a series of workshops open to all attendees run by some of our guests! Kat Nicholson will be running a Transformers Animated themed Children’s Art Workshop on Sunday and our Kitbash Workshop, a popular part of the programme in 2009, is making a welcome return!!

Masterpiece Rodimus Prime competition at AA 2011

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on July 12, 2011 | Auto Assembly,Toys |

There’s not long to go now until Auto Assembly 2011, the biggest Transformers convention Europe (and excuse for a good nerd drinkathon in Birmingham). To make this year’s AA extra special, at TheTransformers.Net we’re giving away a Masterpiece Rodimus Prime – the Hasbro version.

While this spectacular and, dare we say it, sexy beast isn’t yet released – the lucky winner of our competition will have one shipped out to them as soon as he’s available, and we can get our hands on him.

To promote this competition we’re inserting flyers into the goody bags at AA, with all of the details you’ll need to enter the competition – so you’ll just have to wait for Auto Assembly itself before you can enter our competition and be in with a chance of getting your sticky fingers on Rodimus.

Right now though – here’s a sneak peak at the leaflet we’ve designed to promote the contest – though of course you can’t see it all, because it would reveal just what you have to do to win!

Transformers-Flyer-at-AA

Over the next week we’ll be looking for a leaflet printing company to get these little beauties printed, and sent over to the boys at AA ready to be stuffed, lovingly, into the goody bags. You’ll notice from the cross section of the leaflet that it features a photo or two of the chaps from our forum – what handsome devils they are. Why not head over there now and chat to some of them – but don’t offer them any food, whatever you do.

Geoff Senior to attend Auto Assembly 2011!

Written by Duh_Prez on July 5, 2011 | Uncategorized |

The people asked and the people received – ladies and gentlemen, Auto Assembly is proud to announce that the legendary G1 comic artist Geoff Senior is making his return to Europe’s largest Transformers convention in 2011!

As well as possessing one of the most recognisable and influential art styles to have graced the robots in disguise, Geoff was one of the two men behind the initial creation of everybody’s favourite Freelance Peacekeeping Agent, Death’s Head.

At Auto Assembly 2011, Geoff will be reunited with co-creator Simon Furman and modern day Death’s Head art  team Simon Williams, Kat Nicholson and Jason Cardy to talk about the evolution of one of our most loved returning characters in a never before seen group panel.

And to mark this special occasion, TheTransformers.net is proud to have sponsored a special edition Death’s Head postcard, with art from the modern day Death’s Head crew, which will be available in the Auto Assembly goody bags – now each and every one of you can take home a little piece of history and even have something to get signed by the whole creative team – thanks to all our members for making this possible!

Discuss this in our transformers forum, yes?

Inflatable Transformers Advertising

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on July 4, 2011 | Merchandise |

If you’ve ever been to a slightly tacky used car lot, or to a summer fete, or to anywhere where kitsch is the name of the game, then you’ll have seen those jiggling, wobbling, dancing figures that stand seemingly hundreds of feet tall and bounce around in the wind. We’re talking about the dancing inflatable advertising figures, you know the ones.

Anyhow – we wondered if there were ever any Transformers versions of these because, let’s face it, when it comes to figures standing a few hundred feet tall Transformers were made for this. Thankfully, and perhaps surprisingly, there are Transformers inflatable advertising figures – or at least there’s one, that we found anyway.

We found this giant Optimus Prime on a Chinese products website, and he can be made to order – as large as eight metres in height (if you so desire). There’s no pricing information on the website, as you have to enquire about the inflatable Optimus, but he comes with his own pump and a protective crate.

Perhaps the guys at Auto Assembly might consider commissioning a giant, inflatable, Optimus Prime to help promote AA this year?
