The second female presence to grace the Beast Wars universe (following on from Blackarachnia) Airazor is a rather nicely sculpted peregrine falcon, with only those cumbersome legs spoiling the effect somewhat, which makes her best viewed from above. Particularly as her underside is little more than a cluttered arrangement of robot parts. Some nice paint apps and adjustable wings, along with an opening beak, go along way to adding some play value to the beast mode. She can also 'flap' her wings if you pull back on those yellow tabs that stick out. This also doubles as her 'attack mode' when you flip out two blade-like sections in the wings. A nice touch, but does leave her stabbing herself in the head, which I'm not sure was quite the intention.

Transformation is quick and easy, and Airazor is probably one of the simplest Basic toys of her assortment to transform. With the underside of the bird facing you, Swing the robot waist back so it lands in front of the bird's tail. Flip out the arms and swing down the bird head to form the chest. The tail feathers then swing up and rest against the back. I like to flip out the blade sections of the wings to give the robot mode a bit more punch. Her clawed weapon is stored underneath the tail and unclips and is easily held in her hand - or clipped under her forearm. Beware those shoulder pads though - they aren't very secure and easily drop off the shoulder.

Airazor is pretty plain, being largely brown and yellow. Only a splash of silver on the face plate and those green eyes break up the colour scheme. It should look boring, but it doesn't. Largely because Airazor has some very nice sculpted details. She has a nicely contoured torso (a good fit for a female character!), some lovely feathered details and a great head sculpt.

Although she probably won’t set a lot of pulses racing, she is a great little figure and can make good use of those ball joints to strike some very dynamic poses. Those large feet means she is very stable and balances well. Although the character would get a shiny Transmetal toy the following year, it's not quite as impressive as this well crafted little toy.
