It's a shame the Rock Lords had to have the Gobots involved. The Gobots are what turn it from a bad film into a diabolically horrendous one.

Slimestone is the best toy though.

The Gobots cartoon wasn't too great... I've seen on episode of it on Youtube ("Crime Wave") and was very silly, even more so than the TF cartoon. The movie might be quite interesting though... it starts Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, so maybe I should watch it if I ever get the chance.

Pretty sure Cullen and Welker were in the regular series as well. It's all awful anyway.

Although ironically, on a technical level it's MUCH better than Transformers ever was. Animation errors in Gobots are few and far between compared to anything by Sunbow. The model designs, faces and voices were all utter **** though.

Hanna-Barbera just weren't able to capture the feel, excitement or look necessary for a cartoon aimed at selling kids robot toys. Some of the designs were just dreadful, the later renegades looked like they'd been borrowed from a Scooby-Do cartoon.

The Rock Lords were doomed from concept, I remember within a year of them hitting the main retailers they were being sold for a fraction of the price at Poundstretcher. Robots that transform to rocks - that was always going to be a tough sell.

they had some great characters though. like leader one and, well, that might be it.
the rock lordz looked cool, but, yeah, it was a dumb idea

They do look very silly. The Gobots don't even look cool or badass, like giant transforming robots should!

No, the animated Gobots did look like Telebugs. They toys I thought were pretty cool, looking like weird '50s B-Movie robot invaders or something. The Rock Lords were terrible though. They remind me of one of those well meaning 'educational toys'. I'm suprised at some of the voice talent for the Rock Lords movie... Margot Kidder, Telly Savalas... :D

The Rock Lords did make spectacular projectile weapons in the timeless sibling wars of youth though.
