Injector always gets held up as one of the worst Transformers ever. I will raise you Noctorro. An awkward and ugly mix of bat and bull, Noctoro’s huge great head on such a small body makes him front heavy and difficult to balance without him toppling forward. The large robot legs also give him an odd chicken like appearance and then there’s the final annoyance of the spring loaded wings. Oh yes, Noctorro has an action feature, but one that’s more like a mousetrap with a mission to capture your fingers. Whether its supposed to be a ‘capture’ feature or to represent flapping wings is unclear, but it goes off with the slightest touch and both wings are so tightly sprung that they are not easily put back in place. Spring loaded features like this are , unfortunately, one of the greatest failings of the Beast Wars line, with ideas that looked good on paper being a constant irritant in practice, particularly on a Basic sized toy like this.

Noctorro redeems himself with a superb robot mode. The design and overall appearance is excellent, but again the springs in the wings spoil things, forever snapping shut against the robot mode’s body and interfering with the arms. The other point of dissatisfaction with Noctoro is the poorly designed hands which look like someone has smashed his wrists up with sledgehammers and they’ve been badly reset. They jut out at right angles to the rest of his arms and even in beast mode look awkward and uncomfortable. There’s nothing you an really do with them either, they just dangle off the ball joint looking wrong. Injector might look completely mental, but at least the figure can support that mad design, unlike Noctorro here whom is something of a mess.
