Death's Head

There aren’t many people who like Injector. I’ve really no idea why. He’s a brilliant example of what the Fuzor sub line was all about and also seems to have been designed by someone with a strong sense of humour. He’s so mad looking that he can’t help but raise a smile. Sadly, not many Transformers fans seem to appreciate a sense of fun and whimsy so Injector’s charms are lost on them. They are probably Transformers : Prime fans.
A colourful fusion of a lionfish and hornet, Injector has a few nice action features. He has adjustable wings and legs, can shoot the barb form his rear and has another odd feature (for my money) in which his head assembly unclips from the body and the spines on the top move forward a bit. He can also open and close that gloriously toothy mouth of his. The detail on this fish body is excellent, highly textured, nicely rendered and topped off with some marvellous paint applications. The bright orange hornet body is a good match for that electric red fish head. The only down side to this mode is that in common with a lot of the insect Beast Wars figures, the slender legs cannot support the weight of the body. Injector’s massive head does cause the whole thing to slump forward in an ungainly heap, but then if you’re running around the room with him your hand buzzing some ground based Maximals then that’s not going to be a big concern.
The robot mode is another big win for me too. The robot body is formed out the hornet parts, with the arms swing around from the back of the beast – they are covered by the barb which unclips to allow this. The barb can then be used as a handheld weapon. The legs are formed from the rear hornet legs and the robot head just flips down from the fish mouth. The thing I like most about Injector is just how fearsome he looks for such a crazy looking character and I like that the toy’s bio works in his ridiculous appearance as a big part of his personality: Injector is an incredibly vain individual whom considers none as beautiful as he. Right on!
Unlikely to convert humourless killjoys and those unwilling to appreciate something a little more wigged out under the Transformers banner, Injector is a loud, freakish statement of a toy and a cracking example of what the Fuzors line should have been more about.
