And, at the end of the day, why does it matter whether he's the obvious choice for a masterpiece or not. You're getting a great toy out of it.

True dat. Have to say, if a Hasbro version of this guy popped up at a reasonable price then i probably would be interested. Although the thought of G2 version with the spiky wheels is appealing...

I’m not sure doing an MP Shockwave is a good idea. If they announced they were making there'd be nerd juice all over the Interwebs. Spec would be dribbling uncontrollably for months. It would be hideous.

I just read in the Sideswipe preorder page on Kapow that Sideswipe and Red Alert will only be 6-7 inches tall! I realised they weren't going to be huge due to both the price and the fact that masterpiece figures are generally shrinking with every release anyway. But 6-7 inches, really? That will make him SMALLER than the alternator version. I was quite looking forward to getting this, but the size issue has really put me off.

I didn't realise sideswipe was going to be so small. This turns the Masterpiece line into something akin to Alternity, with toys barely bigger than a standard deluxe. That'd be fine except we know the deluxe size class can handle complextiy. That's a lot of money to be spending on some rubber and chrome... and possible die-cast. Definately worth waiting to see if Hasbro pick these up methinks.

Blarthggsagab. No it doesn't. Sideswipe is small because he's in scale to MP-10. It's not the "new size" for Masterpieces, it's just that a Lamborghini Countach is smaller than a truck.

This this new scale fits in much better in bot mode with Grimlock and the seeker molds.

Really, it's basically only the original Prime and Megs that are too big. They always have been since the seekers were released. And personally, I'm fine with that. If they'd released 14 others in that size class, fair play. But just having the 2 main faction leaders in a seperate display of awesome won't hurt me.

Yeah, I get that Sideswipe is inscale and all that, and that's fair enough - but what is this toy doing that his Classics one hasn't effectively already done? It looks nice and all the rest, but $90 for a near on deluxe sized toy? I know by definition the Masterpiece line isn't bringing much new to the table, but is there enough 'wow' in this figure to make it worth the expense?
