End Of The Road...Or So I Thought?

Ages ago I managed to get a hold of a copy of the last few Marvel TF comics. On looking through them I was a bit confused, as I could swear that when I was a kid, I saw something in the letters column saying the comic was going to be reformatted and turned into something better. The next issue, it all ended. Thing is, as an adult I couldn't find high nor tail of it in the actual comics.

I can't imagine that I just made it up, as it was a such a specific memory. Anyone else remember anything like that?

That was the plan but then the cancellation came through to even the surprise of the guys working on the comic

Yup. Transformers UK was planned to continue as a monthly, mainly reprints with, I believe,a small amount of originated material. The ascension of Paul Neary at Marvel UK and a serious overhaul of what Marvel UK were doing lead to the cancellation of a number of projects. A planned Death's Head mini-series was cancelled too. Knights Of Pendragon was cancelled, along with Strip - both of which were doing pretty well, all things considered (KOP was up to #18, making it the most successful M:UK monthly title...ever!)

Ah, so I must have read it in there somewhere. I could have sworn it was the last 2 issues. Oh well, memory fail.

I think a Combat Colin strip (of all things) mentions the switch to monthly which never came. As for the editorial confirmation, I couldn't tell you as I wasn't reading the comic at the time. I am sure the answer will come (eventually) in those intro things in IDWs current UK reprint collections.
