    Comic Book Storage

In addition to getting the IDW collected books, I'm currently picking up a few individual releases, as I love James Roberts.

I'm thinking of getting some kind of album / binder to store these in as otherwise they will get all crumpled.

    Can anybody advise please?

    Cheers

    B

what i do, is store tehm in a few drawers and various boxes, and shoe boxs in my room, i protect them using the plastic sleeves,
the sleeves are good, used to be free when i bough the comics- but thats the recession for 'ya!
but i have some old school '80s comics in a polly wallet stored in a ring-binder- they've kept very nice

but it all depends on how much your willing to spend and how you want to store them/ room wise,
i have found keeping them in them in the magazine boxes you can buy, tends to bend and damage them slightly- so thats not recomended, and storing them upright, i have found tends to be messy,
I like shoe boxes as it seems to work well and seem to be the right size!
    hope this helps

Hey Cyberjam. That's really helpful, thanks a lot!

I'm probably going to avoid boxes at present - you wouldn't know as I didn't give full details, but I should have said that I don't really have box room. I do have shelf room however and so I'm thinking the album idea may work better. Also, as I am a nerd with things like this, I think it'll be prettier You know, in a rugged manly way.

I'm thinking something like this, just trying to work out whether that is the right size for IDW comics (I think most are the same size nowadays, yeah?)

Those binders look very nice, I might pick up some of those for short run comic series and stuff that I'm a bit precious about. For my own sotrage habits, I just have three long boxes and have my comics sotred upright in runs broken up by backer cards. It works well for me, because all the comics I'm into seem to be short run things. It's a bit more difficult to recommend better storage if you've got a series running to 100 issues or so. There are also some nice drawer-style long boxes that you can get these days which are broken up into sections to better support your comics whilst stored upright. Most comic shops sell these for about £10 a throw. I don't go to insane lengths to keep comics, the bags you get from comic shops are fine for about four years before they'll start degrading and reacting with the paper stock of your comics. Mylar is still the best solution for bagging, but you can end up paying silly money for bags.

One thing I've been doing over the years is slowly replacing my individual issues with trade paperback collections (where possible) and just holding onto stuff that's not been collected. Those binder things will work with all US comics. It's rare that you get them cut to a different size, so stuff from any publisher will fit in them.

Superhero? No, you were right all along. Name's Death's Head. I kill people for a living!

i was thinking the same as DH, those binders do look rather cool, might get some myself, as for how mine are stored, most are on book cases, i do have quite a few that are like #1's or that look good that ive framed and put up on my wall, they look pretty good as wall displays

You could store them at my house, on my bookcase where my comics are.

Course, they may suffer the same fate as some of mine, and get destroyed by the cat....

    No problemmo

I have received mine and it's spot on mate. Something I noticed is that, there are lots of these on the internet (mainly on US sites) but they mostly share the same really bad and vague description of the contents. So to assist I'll do a proper review, hopefully tonight if I get chance. Have already taken pictures
