Obey the bunny!
Yeah, you might as well buy a Blu-ray player. Because the boxes are all the same colour and look neat on the shelf. (besides the Human Centipede (green) and any limited edition <cough> transforming boxes)
and worst comes to the worst, you could just watch DVDs on the blu-ray, cant do that the other way round...
id say blu ray as the picture and sounds is alot better than dvd, plus most blu rays have alot more features then dvds
Go Blu-Ray [awesome picture and some of them can make your DVDs look better too], but make sure you check the specs before you buy. If you don't have an HDTV and you buy a Blu-Ray that only has HDMI connections then you just got a very expensive and shiny paperweight, obviously that's not a problem if you already have an HDTV. If you don't have one then look for a player that's got both AV and Composite video inputs as well as the mandatory HDMI connections for Blu-Ray, they're making a lot of straight HDMI connection Blu-Rays with no other options these days and some people buy the wrong ones.

Blu ray has a much better picture quality compred to the dvd
not much to say really, imo this is like beta max upgrade to VHS or not, just as silly a question really. I admire your blatant honesty Cyberjam I really do, but as this is the festive season with Jesus and all that, let me put it to you as such: Fudge nailed it along with Prowler.
Now go buy that Blu Ray Player and enjoy.
The Autobots will have a new leader in the forthcoming Transformers movie. He can turn in to a bowl of dog food. His name: Winalot Prime.
Yeah definitely get yourself a BD player...worth every penny IMO
I haven't looked back since buying my one's
Don't forget that a Blu-Ray player will normally upscale standard def DVD's to almost High Def standards & this makes a massive difference as well.
Everything looks so much better...colours are crisper, sound is better (if you have a HD audio capable AV amp)
It really is night & day difference.
A good test I tried was watching Transformers.
I had both the HD-DVD version & standard Def DVD
Watched them both back to back & the DVD version was a grainy horrible piece of crap with dreadful colours & just a blur of noise & darkness
The HD-DVD however @ 1080p was stunning the colours so bright...prime looked amazing & it was easier to pick out details thanks to the lack of noise in the picture.
After that I tried Appleseed: Ex Machina & the TMNT Cgi movies both were infinitely better the amount of quality you gain is worth every penny.
Go buy one...NOW!!!!!!!!

ps. ^^ and what Neil wrote, btw if your a gamer then you might be tempted in getting yourself a PS3. Then again I have a PS3 and a great Blu Ray Player from Panasonic, and the Blu Ray Quality ie. Picture/sound is even better on that.
The Autobots will have a new leader in the forthcoming Transformers movie. He can turn in to a bowl of dog food. His name: Winalot Prime.
I second the PS3 recommendation...that was my first foray into BD & since then I've added 2 standalone Panasonic players (1 US Region A & 1 UK)
The PS3 is perfectly fine as a BD player & is actually one of the best ways to get into the format.
You get regular updates via the PSN store & it was actually one of the first players to be 3D capable.
I actually only moved away from the PS3 as my BD player because I got my UK panasonic player free with my Plasma otherwise I'd probably still be using the PS3 for my UK movies.
Neil
