Transformers: Defiance Returns to NYTimes Best Seller List

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Defiance, the second prequel series to this summers movie, has AGAIN made it into the New York Times Best Seller List, entering at no. 6 for 4th July.

Defiance focuses on the origins of Cybertron and the beginnings of the war, being set before both films. I won’t spoil it for people, but it will flesh out the actual Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen film, with some more characterisation and better explanation of certain plot points.

The series is written Chris Mowry with art from Dan Khanna.

The Future of IDW Transformers Comics – Whats Coming?

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags: , ,

IDW Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall recently appeared on the radio, and answered some questions about IDW Publishing’s future plans for the Transformers brand. He has also answered some questions in this thread on the IDW forum.

In November, IDW will release Transformers Continuum, which will bring all readers up to speed on IDW’s Transformers comics released so far, which is an idea many fans have recommended for a long time. It isn’t know if this is one issue or a series.

Also be on the look out for the San Diego Comic-Con in 2 weeks, which will have 3 Transformers announcements, 2 of which will come as a big surprise and one that fans feel they already know about. I’ll let you speculate on what these may be.

There will also be some “movie news”, which probably consists of the next movie comic, Tales of the Fallen.

Cover art can be found on Chris Ryall’s blog.

Jim Sorenson has finally finished his latest books, The Complete Transformers Ark and Transformers: Animated The AllSpark Almanac. The two books will be coming this August from IDW Publishing.

The Complete Ark is a combination of both The Ark and The Art II, but with the added bonus of extra artwork, like the Godmasters section should now feel more complete, and there are extra pages, featuring the Decepticon’s underwater headquarters.

The AllSpark Almanac is the ultimate guide into the world Transformers: Animated, with contributions for the creative temas, including Derrick Wyatt, Marty Isenberg, Hasbro, Takara and Titan Magazines. The entire book is written from an in-universe perspective, which should be interesting.

Final Coloured Version of Auto Assembly 2009 Exclusive Cover for AHM #13

The Transformers: All Hail Megatron #13 Auto Assembly 2009 Exclusive CoverIDW Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall has posted the final coloured version of the Auto Assembly 2009 Exclusive cover for IDW’s The Transformers: All Hail Megatron #13.

You find the cover has improved colour contrast compared to when it was last seen, the Apocalypse Comics website (who helped get the cover done), and Grimlock saying something that only Grimlock would say. The cover is limited to 1000 copies with a maximum of 2 sold to each attendee at Auto Assembly 2009 in August.

The cover has art from Nick Roche with colours from Liam Shalloo.

All Hail Megatron #13 is due out next month. Look out for #12 later this week.

Comics Continuum have a 5 page preview, with the 3 covers of All Hail Megatron #12. The issue is designed to bring closure to most of the major plot threads from the series.

Issue #12 was originally meant to mark the end of the original series, but with the previously titled ‘Coda’ mini series now being incorporated into the series numbering,  expect some things to be resolved in issues #13-16.

The Transformers: All Hail Megatron #12 is out next week on 24th June written by Shane McCarthy with art from Guido Guidi.

Kris Carter Blogs on his work for All Hail Megatron #15

Written by Big Bot on June 14, 2009 | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags: ,

Colourist Kris Carter (excellent name) has posted an update on his blog (finally) about his latest work. As well as his Doctor Who work for IDW, he also mentions his latest Transformers work, which was for The Transformers: All Hail Megatron #15. More specifically, he has been colouring Nick Roche’s Kup follow-up story, which bridges the gap between Spotlight Kup and All Hail Megatron.

What impressed me most is just how well it works, I was just grinning ear to ear by the end of it – and although it’s both a sequel and a prequel, it’s not short on character… and lovers and haters of Prowl are in for an absolute treat either way. I can’t wait to see THIS sucker in print! I’ll try and see if I can post up some preview colours closer to publication.

Yes Kris, please try and get some previews up, waiting for September is a long time.

Transformers Audition Tapes from Paramount UK

After the success of the first film, every robot wanted to be in the sequel. Many, however, forgot that transforming is a crucial part of being a Transformer. Continuing their Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen promotions, Paramount UK have uploaded 5 audition tapes for robots that unfortunately didn’t quite make the final cut.

Look out for Drill Sargent Power, Freddy The Flame Grill, Mario The Espresso Machine, Vicki & Danielle The Styling Appliances and Hiro The Toy Robot.

Beware, there are some clips from the actual film during each video.
