Bot con convention 2011 details

Written by Tom Potts on May 14, 2011 | BotCon |

The annual Transformers convention known as Botcon, in America, is around 3 weeks away and Fun Publications have started to reveal to fans which celebrity guests are going to appear there. Flint Dille was the first person confirmed as a guest.

Flint Dille has been hugely successful in the world of films and games. He has designed games with Gary Gygax and written movies for Steven Spielberg. He has many successful franchises and projects, which include Transformers, and worked as a writer on Transformers: The Movie, G.I. Joe, James Bond, Batman, Superman, Dungeons & Dragons, American Tail, Teen Titans and Scooby Doo.

Mr Dille is set to appear as one of the many guests of a special panel, and will also be on hand to sign autographs for fans.

The legend that is Greg Berger, who is the voice of the Generation1 Grimlock, is also set to feature at the convention. He will be there all weekend, which will start on June the 2nd and will finish on June the 5th.

David Kaye, the voice for Optimus Prime in Transformers Animated, is also going to be making an appearance. David Kaye will be at the convention on Friday June 3rd and he will also participate in an as yet unrevealed “special event”. David will of course also be signing autographs.

David Kaye has been very successful as a voice over artist and has worked on many projects, including cartoon characters on series like G.I. Joe, he voiced ‘Clank’, in the hugely popular PlayStation 2 game, ‘Ratchet and Clank’ and of course he was Megatron from Beast Wars.

BotCon 2009: Hasbro Panel

Hasbro’s panel at BotCon 2009 is in mid flow and a few of the main USA sites are live blogging/twittering/posting updates from the convention. Unfortunately, no photos or videos are allowed, so there’s only lots of text to read.

The panel consists of Greg Lombardo, Aaron Archer, Bill Rawley, Joe Kyde, and Erik Siebenaler, as well as some of Hasbro’s writers and marketing team. There’s a lot of information on Masterpiece, Animated, Universe and Revenge of the Fallen toys for the rest of 2009 and 2010. Hopefully there will be some more news on why Animated was cancelled, but we may have to wait until tomorrow.

If you can’t be bothered to read through everything, I will post the big news from the convention: Hasbro are planning on becoming more environmental with their packaging and removing the twist ties. Amazing!

BotCon 2009: Animating Animated Panel Coverage

Written by Big Bot on | Animated,BotCon,Cartoon,Conventions,News | Tags:

The first panel at BotCon 2009 was on the creative process behind the Transformers: Animated show, with the subtitle, Animating Animated.

Lets start with the bad news, Transformers: Animated as a cartoon is finished! It was the first thing announced to prevent endless questions on the subject. The panel recorded all these types of questions being asked at Hasbro’s panel, which should now be even more entertaining.

Also shown were plenty of the Animated Shorts that have appeared on previous DVDs.

More details, including a full description of the creative process of the show, with pictures and videos, can be found at TFW2005 and Tformers.
