Transformers RID – Ultimate Collection coming to DVD (again)

Play.com and Amazon.co.uk have updated their listings with a date for Transformers RID – Ultimate Collection on DVD. The set is due out on 1st December 2008 under the Jetix brand. It will be a 6 disc set, formatted as Region 2 PAL and have a RRP of £19.99 but Play.com have it for £12.99. Given the price, no extras are expected.

This set was originally announced to come out in September 2004, but was cancelled due to poor sales of the two individual sets. It seems the reissued sets, released last October, have sold well enough to justify this to be rescheduled.

Latest RiD DVD news

Written by admin on October 11, 2007 | DVD,Maximum Entertainment,News,Robots In Disguise |

The latest word on July’s first DVD release of “Robots in Disguise” is that it’s being bumped up from a single-disc release to two discs, and will contain the first eight episodes of the series, rather than just the first five.

RiD comes to DVD this summer!

As announced by Daz on the forums a little while ago, “Transformers Robots in Disguise” is coming to DVD courtesy of UK company Maximum Entertainment. And now, we’ve got the goods on the first release – set for July 26th, the first disc will contain the first five episodes of the series, with another release set for October. Boxsets are a possibility in the future.

Stay tuned for new details as we get them!

No Complete RID DVD Set

As Chris McFeely reported earlier, thetf.net forum member Casperuk had mentioned that Play.com have dispatched his order for the Complete RID Boxset, which had been confirmed as cancelled last month. Casperuk got his package today and had this to say

sorry lads and gals, i got this morning the part 1 of 2 box set for…………wait for it……………£29.99.

of course i called up and said OI whats going on and asked if i could have the second box set and my change , but if the SIX disk version does exist i will get send that.

Complete RiD DVD boxset cancelled

It’s still listed on several websites, but here’s the official word from Maximum Entertainment’s Colin Lomax on the fate of this set

“As a result of disappointing sales we have decided against continuing with the ‘complete set’ approach and have instead chosen to release the episodes on single DVD’s at a lower price point. Consequently we won’t be including any extras. We may revisit the box set approach when the new Spielberg movie is released but not for now.”

So if anyone was holding off on buying the two individual sets in favour of waiting for this, hold yourself back no longer.

RID 1.2 Boxset Review

Chris McFeely has posted his review of the second Transformers Robots In Disguise DVD Boxset from Maximum Entertainment. Check out the review in the forums.

Neil Kaplan confirmed for AA 2005

Wreck and Rule. of the forums has reported that Neil Kaplan, the voice of RID Optimus Prime, is coming to Auto Assembly 2005! Here’s what Simon Plumbe had to say on the announcement

Okay, we’ve just confirmed our latest guest for AA2005… and it’s a voice actor!

Making his first appearance at Auto Assembly is RiD’s Neil Kaplan, the voice of Optimus Prime and Ro-Tor!!

We had been in talks with another voice actor for some time which was 100% dependent on sponsorship. That sponsor started making very unreasonable demands of the actor, to the point that they wanted to by-pass Auto Assembly completely and go directly to the actor in question! As you can imagine, that resulted in that deal falling apart.

Neil stepped in about two weeks ago and asked if he could come along. He made us an absolutely fantastic offer regarding his appearance and combining the offer Neil made, plus the wonderful support we have had from all of you booking early and through funds raised from our online auctions and fundraising through the adverts on our website we have been able to make Neil’s appearance happen without the need for sponsorship!!

Neil will be involved quite extensively with the Auto Assembly 2005, and he is also going to be helping us with the auction and as we write this, is arranging for some rather special items to be signed from many of his fellow RiD cast members in the States…!
