Restricted Sunstorm and Encore Sixshot releases

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on February 21, 2012 | Takara,Toys |

Recent MP-11s Sunstorm information may be very interesting to many British Transformers fans. Takara has pencilled in a launch date for July or August 2012. Only 1,000 of the attractive Sunstorm toys will be made available in Japan. There may be more pieces which will be obtainable in other Asian markets, but there is as yet no information forthcoming with regard to potential western availability.

To buy a piece of the action in Japan, you would have to shell out 12,000 yen. This is approximately equivalent to £95 at the moment. The Sunstorm piece will come in an aesthetically pleasing black package for those fortunate enough to have a purchasing opportunity.

The Encore Sixshot release is planned to occur in July 2012. The price will be exactly the same as the Sunstorm figure. Nonetheless, the packaging will be quite different. Apparently, it will possess a leather finish and a special aperture. These features will help make it into a real collector’s item. At nearly £100, it might be thought that these kinds of luxury elements are what should be expected as part of the overall package.

Not every Transformers fan has the kind of budget with which to afford such extravagant purchases. Nevertheless, many of us in Britain would enjoy the opportunities presented by having a local release. Hopefully, Takara will one day perceive that there is a British demand for this type of special offer. Until then, we can feast our eyes on what our Asian friends can look forward to.

As we just mentioned, Hasbro is releasing some new Transformers toys based on the forthcoming video game Transformers Fall of Cybertron. Here, for your frenzied enjoyment, are the photographs of the toys themselves.

New HASBRO Toys Based on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on | Toys,Video Games |

We received this news on Saturday from our contact at Activision, but as I was personally away for the weekend nobody was here to put it up 🙁

Still, I’m here now and here’s the news about new Transformers toys based on Transformers Fall of Cybertron!

New HASBRO Toys Based on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

We wanted to let you know about some exciting new Hasbro toys based on Activision’s highly anticipated Transformers: Fall of Cybertron video game.

Part of the TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS DELUXE line launching this fall, Hasbro will be releasing five new action figures in their Cybertronian form based on the characters in the video game.  These include BLAST-OFF, VORTEX, DECEPTICON BRAWL, SWINDLE, and ONSLAUGHTcharacters that can combine into one fearsome Decepticon, BRUTICUS, just as they do in the game.

Each figure within the assortment has three modes: robot, vehicle and a third ‘combiner’ mode to link together and form the colossal BRUTICUS figure.  Each will be sold separately.

The successor to acclaimed developer High Moon Studios’ highest-rated Transformers game of all time, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron allows players to experience the darkest hours of the war between the Autobots and Decepticons as they vie for control of their dying home world, playing through both sides of the TRANSFORMERS’ most epic battles that culminate in their legendary exodus from Cybertron.  With the stakes higher and scale bigger than ever, fans will control an unprecedented assortment of TRANSFORMERS characters armed with authentic transformation designed around their unique abilities, including GRIMLOCK’s nearly indestructible T-Rex form and the legendary COMBATICONS forming into the colossal BRUTICUS.  Taking the franchise’s competitive multiplayer to all-new heights, Transformers: Fall of Cybertronfans will go head-to-head in blistering Autobot vs. Decepticon matches after creating their own unique characters with the most in-depth, advanced customization ever before seen in a Transformers game.

For more information about the game, fans can visit www.facebook.com/transformersgame or the official game site at www.transformersgame.com.

RC Optimus Prime from Tamiya

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on December 29, 2011 | Toys |

‘lofty401’, a new member on our forum, posted the following video from YouTube showing a custom Optimus Prime made from a Tamiya RC truck. You can’t quite get the sheer scale of the Optimus Prime until the end of the video when they place an original G1 Prime on top of the trailer. Then you can appreciate just how big this bad boy really is.

I want one of these. Now.

Masterpiece Rodimus Prime competition at AA 2011

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on July 12, 2011 | Auto Assembly,News,Toys |

There’s not long to go now until Auto Assembly 2011, the biggest Transformers convention Europe (and excuse for a good nerd drinkathon in Birmingham). To make this year’s AA extra special, at TheTransformers.Net we’re giving away a Masterpiece Rodimus Prime – the Hasbro version.

While this spectacular and, dare we say it, sexy beast isn’t yet released – the lucky winner of our competition will have one shipped out to them as soon as he’s available, and we can get our hands on him.

To promote this competition we’re inserting flyers into the goody bags at AA, with all of the details you’ll need to enter the competition – so you’ll just have to wait for Auto Assembly itself before you can enter our competition and be in with a chance of getting your sticky fingers on Rodimus.

Right now though – here’s a sneak peak at the leaflet we’ve designed to promote the contest – though of course you can’t see it all, because it would reveal just what you have to do to win!

Transformers-Flyer-at-AA

Over the next week we’ll be looking for a leaflet printing company to get these little beauties printed, and sent over to the boys at AA ready to be stuffed, lovingly, into the goody bags. You’ll notice from the cross section of the leaflet that it features a photo or two of the chaps from our forum – what handsome devils they are. Why not head over there now and chat to some of them – but don’t offer them any food, whatever you do.

Transformers Dark of the Moon Soundwave

Written by Grimmonkey on June 9, 2011 | News,Toys,Transformers: Dark of the Moon |

As yet, we have no official pictures of these, but Takara has anounced that for Transformers Dark of the Moon, Soundwave will definitely have an Earth mode and that it will be that of a Mercedes.

On top of that, he will be getting no less than three, yes THREE different toys, with the Human Alliance version coming with Laserbeak. I’m unsure why Soundwave is included in the HA series, seeing as the Decepticons want to KILL all the humans, but hey, if it looks as good as it sounds, I for one will be buying it, and you can bet your bottom dollar that our very own Smokesniper will be buying all three!!

We will be getting the Human Alliance version in October, soon to be followed by Deluxe and Cyberverse Legion versions!

Latest Transformers toy releases from Hasbro

Written by Tom Potts on May 13, 2011 | Hasbro,Toys |

Hasbro is keeping fans excited about the release of their latest Transformer toyline, which will go on general sale on the 16th May.

Hasbro has been updating regularly in anticipation of the launch and recently revealed the character Cyberverse Legion Crowbar. The Vector Sigma database, that also launched during the redesign, reveals Crowbar as part of the Dread team, along with Crankcase and Hatchet. Additional figures that are part of this update include fellow Legion class, renamed from Legend Leadfoot, Bolt Bumblebee, and Commander Blackout.

As well as the characters Hasbro has included a brief description about the toy characters and their strengths and abilities.

CROWBAR infiltrates and observes AUTOBOT tactical movements with unmatched stealth and intellect. He has been trained in the most brutal DECEPTICON attack strategies for the unlikely event he is discovered.

BUMBLEBEE charges into battle, engine roaring, and ready to turn DECEPTICONS into scrap. His dogged bravery is idolised by the AUTOBOTS and feared by his enemies.

LEADFOOT and his cohorts drive fast, have a thing for loud weapons and maintain a strong dislike for DECEPTICONS. But LEADFOOT is not all flash and show; while on CYBERTRON he was called a genius weapon designer!

These toys are going to be on wide release and will be available from most retailers such as ASDA, Amazon, Argos, Boots, Debenhams, Firebox.com, Hamleys, John Lewis, Play.com, Smyths, Tesco, The Entertainer, Toymaster, Toys R Us and WH Smiths.

Product selection, availability, and pricing may vary by retailer.
