US Transformers Comics Back in the UK.

The following is a press release from Diamond and Hasbro concerning the availability for the TF comics.

If you can’t be bothered to read all the following gumph, in summary, Transformers comics will be back at your comic shop very soon at their original cover price.

TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE Comics Now Available Worldwide
Dreamwave and Devil’s Due Expands Agreement with Diamond to include Distribution Beyond North America.

Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. has been given the rights to distribute TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comic books, posters and lithographs to comic book stores in regions beyond North America, through an expanded agreement with Dreamwave and Devil’s Due. Diamond currently distributes the Dreamwave and Devil’s Due lines, which are created under license through Hasbro Consumer Products, to comic book stores in the U.S.

“TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE are highly popular brands and appeal to collectors on a global basis,” said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. “Diamond is pleased to be able to provide retailers outside of the U.S. with authentic product based on these brands.”

“We are thrilled that comic fans around the world will have access to TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics and other illustrated items,” said Tom Klusaritz, Vice President of Publishing for Hasbro Consumer Products. “Dreamwave and Devil’s Due produce high quality, entertaining lines and Diamond is the expert at getting them into the hands of our fans.”

Beginning May 1, 2003, Diamond will make a special order form available to stores outside of North America so that they can purchase Dreamwave’s TRANSFORMERS licensed items and Devil’s Due G.I. JOE licensed items.

Hasbro Consumer Products Worldwide is the licensing and promotions arm of the Hasbro Properties Group, which develops and expands Hasbro’s core brands, such as G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, MONOPOLY and CANDYLAND, into a wide variety of entertainment and consumer categories.
