Sony Wonder to Close

Written by admin on March 15, 2007 | DVD,Generation One,News,Sony BMG,Transformers The Movie (1986) |

Bad news people. According Yahoo! News, Sony Wonder is in the process being closed by parent company Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

Sony BMG, who release DVDs through Sony Wonder, were responsible for last November’s Transformers The Movie 20th Anniversary DVD in North America and were planning to re-release Transformers Season 1 later this year, however this now seems uncertain.

This may also affect the content of Metrodome’s Transformers The Movie Ultimate Edition DVD, due out in the UK in June, as they were currently trying to aquire the rights to the extras.

IGN Review Sony BMG’s TFTM DVD

Written by admin on October 27, 2006 | DVD,News,Sony BMG,Transformers The Movie (1986) |

IGN have reviewed Sony BMG’s Transformers The Movie 20th Anniversary Edition DVD and seem to love every bit of it.

Probably the most interesting bit of the review is the comparisons with Rhino’s DVD. It clearly shows that a good portion has been cut off around the sides for the full frame (the way it was meant to be watched) version.

Completing Disc One is the restoration comparison – a welcome addition that should be included on every new and upcoming DVD release (and especially re-release) – and the preview footage from the 2007 live-action Transformers film. Unfortunately, none of the shots elaborate on the glimpses we’ve thus far seen, and in fact only repeat content made available on IGN and elsewhere on the web. But the cooperation/participation of Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and Paramount is a great compliment to the producers of this DVD.

The full review can be read here.
