WIN Masterpiece Rodimus with TheTransformers.Net

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on August 8, 2011 | Auto Assembly,News |

In conjunction with Auto Assembly 2011, we here at TheTransformers.Net are giving away a fabulous prize to your UK Transformers fans. We have a Masterpiece Rodimus to offer up to the lucky winner of our competition, details of which were advertised on our flyers at Auto Assembly 2011.

If you’ve come here from seeing one of our flyers at AA, then welcome – we love you one and all. If however you’ve come here from another source, such as a link, Google or the kind words of a friend, we love you too (possibly not quite as much, we’ll decide later).

Anyhow – onto the competition. In order to stand a chance of winning this great (and it is a thing of beauty) prize then all you have to do is sign up to our new forum and post in the competition thread. After the competition end date (September 2nd) we’ll randomly select one of the posters as the winner of this great prize.

Regulars to our site may notice that this is a new forum, as our old one (TheTF.Net) has been closed down and moved over to TheTransformers.Net. TheTF.Net will remain live for all eternity as a homage to the greatness that it was, but this new forum on our main website will grow and grow as members migrate and new members find us – hence the competition to help promote it 😉

We should point out at this stage that staff members of our forum, and staff members of AA, are not allowed to enter… sorry chaps.

Once the lucky winner has been selected, we’ll contact them to get their UK based address and will order the toy for them to be sent out as soon as it’s available (release dates pending of course).

How cool does that sound? All you need to do is sign up to a forum and post in a thread – and if you’re already a member of the forum then half the work’s done for you!

You can find the forum thread here – just post once in the thread and that will register your entry into the competition; you don’t need to post again in that thread, but you can post in other parts of the forum and chat to our friendly, if not slightly inebriated, forum members.

Here, for your perusal, are the terms and conditions of the competition – or the boring bit, as we like to call it.

Terms & Conditions

  1. No purchase necessary. No third party or bulk entries will be accepted.
  2. Under 16s need parental/guardian’s consent. This promotion is open to residents of the UK only, excluding employees and their immediate families of Sheer Media Ltd, TheTransformers.Net and Auto Assembly, its agents and anyone professionally associated with it.
  3. To enter the prize draw you must register on the forum and post in the competition thread
  4. Within a week of the closing date, the winner will be selected from all entries into the competition
  5. The prize consists of the Masterpiece Rodimus (pictured)
  6. All entries into the draw must be received by 23.59 September 2nd 2011
  7. The winner will be selected at random under independent supervision and notified through the forum’s messaging system within 14 days of the closing date. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted within a further 28 days, the promoter reserves the right to withdraw prize entitlement and award the prize to a reserve selected at the same time as the original.
  8. No cash or other alternative prizes are available, except that in the event of circumstances outside its control the promoter reserves the right to substitute similar alternatives of equal or greater value.
  9. By entering this Promotion, all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  10. Prize receivers will be required to take part in publicity. The winners’ name and county will be published on TheTransformers.net website.
  11. The promoter’s decisions regarding all promotional matters will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  12. Promoter: Sheer Media Limited, Unit D4, Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre, Ellesmere Port CH65 9BF

Hasbro to attend Auto Assembly 2011

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on August 2, 2011 | Auto Assembly,Hasbro,News |

Last night Auto Assembly made yet another announcement about this year’s Transformers convention, taking place in Birmingham in just ten days time. The latest announcement is that Hasbro will be attending, and will have a Transformers display of some of the latest toys. Here is the official announcement from Auto Assembly:

We’re just 11 days away from Auto Assembly 2011 but we’re not finished with our big announcements yet…!

We are proud to announce that we are continuing to develop our relationship with Hasbro UK and once again they will be having a display at the convention this year showcasing some of the latest Transformers available. They are also going to be donating some prizes for us to give away at the convention but we’re going to be leaving details of that as a surprise for the weekend itself.

We still have more big announcements to come and the clock is ticking away now for you to hurry and pre-register to guarantee your place at Europe’s Largest Transformers Convention! Pre-booking will get you earlier admission to the event, a better chance for more free gifts in your goodie bag, and you’ll be automatically entered into two free prize draws, one of which is to win autographs from various Transformers actors including Peter Cullen and Shia La Boeuf!

If you’re not able to join us this year, don’t forget that bookings are open now for Auto Assembly 2012 taking place over the weekend of 3rd – 5th August 2012. Tickets are selling at an astonishing rate with almost 40 sold in the first week!

Auto Assembly 2011 is taking place over the weekend of 12th – 14th August 2011 at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham, England and tickets are available from the website now. For more details on the convention, to see a full list of all the guests and activities taking place over the weekend, or to book your tickets, visit the website at www.autoassembly.org.uk

Masterpiece Rodimus Prime competition at AA 2011

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on July 12, 2011 | Auto Assembly,News,Toys |

There’s not long to go now until Auto Assembly 2011, the biggest Transformers convention Europe (and excuse for a good nerd drinkathon in Birmingham). To make this year’s AA extra special, at TheTransformers.Net we’re giving away a Masterpiece Rodimus Prime – the Hasbro version.

While this spectacular and, dare we say it, sexy beast isn’t yet released – the lucky winner of our competition will have one shipped out to them as soon as he’s available, and we can get our hands on him.

To promote this competition we’re inserting flyers into the goody bags at AA, with all of the details you’ll need to enter the competition – so you’ll just have to wait for Auto Assembly itself before you can enter our competition and be in with a chance of getting your sticky fingers on Rodimus.

Right now though – here’s a sneak peak at the leaflet we’ve designed to promote the contest – though of course you can’t see it all, because it would reveal just what you have to do to win!

Transformers-Flyer-at-AA

Over the next week we’ll be looking for a leaflet printing company to get these little beauties printed, and sent over to the boys at AA ready to be stuffed, lovingly, into the goody bags. You’ll notice from the cross section of the leaflet that it features a photo or two of the chaps from our forum – what handsome devils they are. Why not head over there now and chat to some of them – but don’t offer them any food, whatever you do.

Auto Assembly 2004: The Video

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on June 17, 2011 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News |

Back in 2004, the UK Transformers convention known as Auto Assembly was filmed by Crazy Dog Media for Metrodome Distribution and their series of Transformers DVD releases. The short film appeared as a special feature on the DVDs. The host for the video was TheTransformers.Net’s own Overlord, and some well known faces from the Transformers world crop up in the film.

Just look at how young some of them look!

TheTF.Net’s Auto Assembly Fundraiser

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on May 13, 2011 | Auto Assembly |

We’re just counting up the money that everyone donated for this year’s Auto Assembly 2011 fundraiser and will update here shortly with details. A big thanks to everyone who donated to us, from TheTransformers.Net and from Auto Assembly.

Remember, Auto Assembly is the biggest Transformers convention in Europe, and this year it’s being held on the 12th – 14th August in Birmingham’s Holiday Inn, Birmingham City Centre.

We hope to see you there!

TheTF.Net Sponsorship Fundraiser for Auto Assembly 2011

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on March 31, 2011 | Auto Assembly,Marvel,People |

Auto Assembly is the biggest Transformers convention in Europe, and this year it’s being held on the 12th – 14th August in Birmingham’s Holiday Inn, Birmingham City Centre.

This year’s guests of honour are David Kaye and Gregg Berger, and tickets can be booked now from www.autoassembly.org.uk.

Usually at Auto Assembly TheTransformers.Net takes a watching brief; mostly watching the bar it has to be said. At past conventions we’ve participated solely in helping the venue to increase its bar takings, decorated display tables with our empties and became increasingly slovenly as the day went on. Our only previous worthwhile contribution was in producing a CD-ROM for Auto Assembly 2005. However, this year, for Auto Assembly 2011, we intend to actually do something.

Transformers #147 CoverThis year TheTransformers.Net is hoping to raise funds (listen up, this is where you come in) to bring one of the best loved comic artists, and little seen at Transformers conventions, Geoff Senior to Auto Assembly.

Geoff Senior was one of the original comic artists on the Marvel UK Transformers comic, and was one of the people responsible for creating the legendary bounty hunter Death’s Head – who made a comeback recently thanks to artist talents of Simon Williams. In addition to Transformers and Death’s Head, Geoff Senior also put pencils to paper to produce artwork for Doctor Who, Judge Dredd, Dragon’s Claws and Zoids.

Galvatron defeats Magnus

Getting Geoff to Auto Assembly 2011 on behalf of TheTransformers.Net and TheTF.Net is going to cost £200 – and we’re officially launching our fundraiser right here. We need our members, our website visitors, you guys, to donate any small amount you can (even a couple of pounds would be a huge help) so that we can get Geoff Senior to Auto Assembly 2011.

Transformers #83 CoverIf you want your comics or graphic novels signed, if you want to chat to Geoff about Transformers or Death’s Head, or if you want Geoff to draw a personalised sketch just for you; help us to bring Geoff Senior to Auto Assembly 2011.

The best part is: we don’t even need to raise the full £200 ourselves as Auto Assembly will match anything we raise, so we just need to raise £100.

How to Donate

All you have to do donate is to send any amount you can spare to paypal@thetf.net – or you can use the donate button below.

CD-ROMs and Auto Assembly

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on February 15, 2011 | Auto Assembly |

A few years ago at the Transformers convention in Birmingham we all know and love by the name of Auto Assembly, TheTransformers.Net produced a CD-ROM to give away free in the goody bags. This CD-ROM contained contents such as a fan art gallery from Transformers fans from around the world, and a mini website – including web links.

Now, for this year’s convention we’ve been asked if we can produce something similar to offer as a freebie in the goody bags – but alas the CD-ROM idea isn’t going to work. You see, when we produced the one a few years ago I personally worked for a design agency in Cardiff, and had access to professional printers for the CD labels, free access to CD and DVD replication equipment to mass produce the CDs and a hefty discount on the actual CDs themselves.

This is no longer the case 🙁

However; this time we do have another idea that we can’t go into too much in depth now, but it involves the Internet, Twitter, Facebook, a forum and a competition prize. This weekend, in our forum meetup, we’ll be ironing out the details of our plan for this year’s Auto Assembly and, while it will no doubt include our ever present display of empty beer glasses, it should be something pretty exciting.

We’ll make details available of our maniacal scheme as soon as we can, and as soon as we’ve approved them with the powers that be, but we’re looking forward to a great Auto Assembly this year – and a great forum meet this weekend.

Transformers Decepticon Car Badges

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on August 13, 2009 | Auto Assembly,Merchandise |

It’s the Transformers convention in Birmingham this weekend and my car is now blinged up and ready to go. I just received my eBay order of 4 Decepticon car badges, which cost me just £1.20 (plus some postage) from China.

The badges look awesome and fit nicely next the Z3 badge on the back of my car. I’m now driving a Decepticon!

TheTF.Net Forum meet at AA 2009

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on | Auto Assembly,News |

I was speaking to Simes from Auto Assembly this week and he kindly offered to give us at TheTransformers.Net a slot in the busy AA schedule for a forum meet. So if anyone from our forum wants to meet up and put a beard to the username, you can do so at Auto Assembly on the Saturday, between 6-7pm.

Simes also wanted me to mention that pre-registration for the convention has just closed (which if you’ve been on another planet for the last few months is this weekend, Saturday AND Sunday, in Birmingham). There are still passes available on the door though, so you can get there early and still get in.

Hopefully we’ll all see you there!

Auto Assembly 2009 breaks European Attendance Record

Written by Big Bot on July 28, 2009 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags:

With just over 2 weeks to go and Auto Assembly 09 is already making a buzz with news that it has passed it’s own record of 423 attendees to become the highest attended Transformers convention in Europe and could break the 500 number with the usual late surge of ticket sales.

Yes, we’ve done it again and set a new attendance record for a European Transformers convention and Auto Assembly 2009 hasn’t even taken place yet!! At the time of writing this, we now have 425 pre-registrants which has beaten the previous record that we set in 2008 of 423 attendees. With 17 days to go before the convention and people still booking daily, and on-the-door attendees as well, this number will continue to rise further. We want to thank all of you for helping us to break this record and hopefully we will reach the magic 500!

Hasbro take note, this is another justification that Transformers are popular outside North America and we want you to start treating us right.
