TV loonland sell Transformers G1 rights back to Hasbro

TV Loonland, the rights holder to many of Hasbro’s cartoons from the 1980s, has released a press statement informing that they have sold back all rights to Hasbro for $7 million.

In 2000, TV Loonland bought Sunbow Productions from Sony BMG, and with it, all rights for their cartoons, specifically all 98 G1 episodes, Transformers The Movie, 115 Headmaster, Masterforce and Victory episodes and 52 G2 episodes.

With this news, expect some new DVD releases in the future.

Transformers: Animated episode “Velocity” airs today in Canada

YTV continue the Transformers: Animated series today, with episode 21, Velocity, which airs at 11:00am local time. Here is the episode description:

Investigating a mysterious race car, Bumblebee gets involved with an illegal underground street racing circuit, which also captures the attention of the Decepticons.

For fans in the USA, Cartoon Network are one episode behind with “Garbage In, Garbage Out”, featuring the first appearance of Wreck-Gar. The episode airs at 10:30am EST.

New Transformers: Animated on YTV today

Continuing the excellent Transformers; Animated series, todays episode, Garbage In, Garbage Out, is the 20th episode in the series and marks the debut of a character not seen since the Generation One cartoon. The episodes airs at 11:00am on YTV in Canada.

Cartoon Network, in the USA, are one episode behind with Mission Accomplished, which airs at 10:30am.

Comics Continuum have posted a list of episodes and dates for new Transformers: Animated episodes on Cartoon Network for May. They have proved to be entirely accurate for March and April, so take these dates as very reliable.

YTV to air Animated Episode 18 this Saturday

After the frist episode of season 2 of Transformers: Animated aired last weekend on Cartoon Network and YTV in North America and Canada respectively, it was hoped that the series would continue without any breaks. However, Cartoon Network will not be airing the next episode, Return of the Headmaster, until 26th April. Luckily, YTV will be continuing with a consistent showing of the series.

Episode 18 will air on Saturday 19th April at 11:00 AM Eastern Time.

Megatron Rising Parts 1 & 2 Aired Yesterday on NickToons

I know this isn’t any help to anyone, but out the blue, NickToons finally aired the season one 2 art finale, Megatron Rising, Part One & Part Two, yesterday evening. It was oringally expected that the episdoes would air last Sunday and Monday.

it is hoped now that NickToons will starting airing season 2, especially as previews for the episodes are on their website.

Transformers: Animated, Episode 17 airs today

Today sees the start of Transformers: Animated season two on Cartoon Network in the USA and YTV in Canada.

“The Elite Guard” airs in the morning at 10:30am EST on CN, and on YTV at 11am EST. As the title suggests, the Elite Guard arrives on Earth to releave Optimus Prime and his crew of their duty. A clip from the episode can be seen by UK fans on NickToons.

New Animated Season 2 Clips on NickToons UK

Nick.co.uk, the official website of NickToons, has posted some clips from 2 episodes of season 2 of Transformers: Animated. This is despite NickToons having skipped the season 1 finale Megatron Rising last Sunday and Monday.

The clip from the episode Velocity features the first appearance of Blurr, but only in vehicle mode. The second clip is from The Elite Guard, which airs on Saturday in the USA and Canada. In this clip are Ultra magnus, Sentinel Prime and Jazz, who all speak.

The clips are only available to residents in the UK.

Transformers: Animated soon to air in over 80 countries

Variety are reporting that Entertainment Rights have secured more international television rights for the newest Transformers cartoon, Transformers: Animated.

The latest territories to air Transformers: Animated soon are Italy through Mediaset; Australia, Latin America and India through Turner Broadcasting (cartoon Network); Israel, the Netherlands and Belgium through Jetix; Australia through Network 10; New Zealand through TV3; Singapore through Mediacorp TV12; and Brazil through TV Globo.

Reminder: Megatron Rising Part Two airs today

Today, Cartoon Network and YTV will air the final episode of the first season of Transformers: Animated. The episode, titled Megatron Rising Part Two, follows on from last weeks episode, with Megatron ready to conquer Earth with his new body.
