Shae McCarthy Discusses All Hail Megatron

UK comic store OneShallStand.com have managed to interview All Hail Megatron writer Shane McCarthy.

They discuss his work in the comic industry and how he managed to get a job on a Transformers project. He also answers some of the criticism that the series has received and some of the unanswered plots, like the Autobot traitor, which will be revealed in issue #8, and what his next project might be after All Hail Megatron.

Revenge of the Don!

Following on from news of next weeks Defiance #1, IDW Editor Denton J. Tipton has confirmed that popular Transformers artist Don Figueroa will be returning to the franchise with work on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Prequel: Defiance #3, with a line art drawing to keep you busy with.

The third issue is due out in March.

Chris Mowry Confirms Defiance Information

Next week sees the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Prequel: Defiance, the second 4 issue prequel, and writer Chris Mowry has decided to clarify some misconceptions about the series.

Unlike, Alliance, which takes place between The Reign of Starscream and the sequel, Defiance takes place before the first movie, but still links into Revenge of the Fallen and possibly future stories as well. Josh Perez is on colours again, with Dan Khanna and Andrew Griffith on art duties.

As a bonus, Comics Continuum have posted a 5 page preview with the 3 covers as well.

Two releases this week, both from different eras of Transformers.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Prequel: Alliance #2 continues the prequel story to Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. A 5 page preview of Alliance #2 has already been revealed.

Transformers: Armada, Vol. 2 TPB is a reprint of Dreamwave’s Armada series, issues #7-12. The cover for which can be found on Chris Ryall’s blog.

Jim Sorenson, who was partly responsible for the two brilliant “The Ark” volumes, wants some fan advice on his next book, Transformers: Animated The Allspark Almanac.

The 208 pages guide is being designed to be as comprehensive as possible. To achieve this, he wants to know what questions you would liked asked of the writers and producers of the show. Also, if things like sketches, unused concepts, music, storyboards are of interest, he would like to know.

Alt Cover for Spotlight Jazz Revealed

March’s release of The Transformers Spotlight: Jazz is much anticipated by many fans, mainly because he’s a cool character, and so this piece of art will get these fans excited.

Artist Andrew Griffith has posted his cover for Spotlight Jazz, which was originally used as part of their pitch to IDW for the issue.  The story is written by Josh van Reyk & Shaun Knowler, with art from E.J. Su.

IDW Presents “I am Optimus Prime” Book

IDW Publishing Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall has announced on his blog a new childrens book from himself and IDW. I Am Optimus Prime, is a 32 page book, due out in May, and is described as a crossover between a picture book and a comic.

The characters are being modelled after the Robot Heroes toyline, with the art drawn by Joe and Rob Sharp, and will be a hardcover with dustjacket, which is shown below.

There’s a good start to the new year from IDW, with 4 comics this week. The only new material is The Transformers: Maximum Dinobots #2, Simon Furman’s Dinobot tale, picking up after Transformers: Devastation.
The other 3 titles are TPBs, the first being Transformers: Saga of the Allspark TPB, which collects the four issues released by IDW, which are actually the first 8 issues of Titan’s Transformers UK comic. Next comes 2 reprinted volumes from IDW’s main continuity, The Transformers: Stormbringer TPB [4th Printing] and The Transformers: Escalation TPB [2nd Printing], volumes 2 and 3 respectively.
