Currently airing on the Canadian channel YTV, we have a new commercial that shows off more footage of Sentinel Prime and Ultra Magnus as well as the first appearances of Jazz and Wreck-Gar from future episodes of Transformers: Animated.

The clip is 30 seconds long and should get fans excited about the next four episodes which make up the end of the first series.

“Gone too Far” Text Story at Transformers Collector’s Club

Written by Big Bot on March 14, 2008 | BotCon,Conventions,News |

The members only section of the official Transformers Collector’s Club website has been updated with the Transformers Timelines text story, “Gone Too Far”.

The story follows Jackpot and Hubcap on Axiom Nexus in one of their adventures. I won’t spoil it for you but the word Transtech is involved.

The story is written by Greg Sepelak and Trent Troop, with illustrations by Evan Gauntt.

Simon Furman’s Revelations

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,Generation One,IDW Publishing,News |

More comic news (it seems the only thing happening in the Transformers world) this time from writer Simon Furman, who has added his thoughts to the Transformers Revelation announcement with a post on his blog.

In his blog, he confirms that the four Spotlight issues are indeed Cyclonus, Hardhead, Doubledealer and Sideswipe and together they will bring the Dead Universe storyline to an end. There will also be “fallout” from Transformers Stormbringer and many of the Spotlight issues.

He also clarifies what series are coming out this year. He confirms the The 13 and All Hail Megatron series that we’ve already heard about but also that there is another series which is set within the main continuity.

Expect more details on the series in the next few days when the June solitications are released and Simon continues his script (w)raps.

Interview with Graphic Artist Chris Mowry

Ritcher of IDW’s forums, who is one of the people spear heading the Transformers Mosaic project, has recently interviewed graphic artist Chris Mowry. Chris is currently working on Transformers: The Reign of Starscream, but not as an artist but as a writer.

Most of the interview focuses on the movie sequel comic, and goes into some more detail about the name change of the series, what unanswered questions will be explained, and how the comic fits inbetween the two movies.

Here’s a short extract:

JVR. What can people expect from “RoS?”

CM. We’ll see Starscream as he should have been in the movie. Seriously, I mean, he’s got two lines in the film!? What’s that all about? What we wanted to do was give arguably the toughest character in the film (c’mon, he took on Ratchet AND Ironhide point-blank!) some situations where he could really step it up and when he does, look out. Just think of the ferocity you saw him with at the end of the film, and match that with a contriving mind (he’s smart! he’s smart!). Now throw in a dash of madness, and you’ve got our Starscream.

So what we did for the first issue, was really just go back and reflect on things either glanced over or not explained, and explain them through Starscream’s point of view. How the Autobots got to Earth, how did the Decepticons follow them, how did Starscream fail Megatron the FIRST time? Those kinds of things we’re trying to explain in our way, through his words. Also, we’re referencing the Prequel books (make sure you read the Target exclusive version!) as well. So while some may think that the first issue is nothing but a rehash of what we’ve already seen, it’s not. It’s merely a pathway leading into the story. Oh and it’s not a total retelling, I’ll promise you this for the first book:

– Characters that were not seen in the movie
– Characters that should have been seen in the movie (in our opinion)
– Quite a few easter eggs

The Other Covers for Revelation

Written by Big Bot on March 13, 2008 | Comics,Generation One,IDW Publishing,News |

After the news and cover unveiling 2 days ago, we now have some more artwork for Transformers Revelations from IDW Publishing.

The covers are for Spotlight Cyclonus and Spotlight Hardhead again but these are the Nick Roche variant covers with a sort of Animated twist.

European Animated Packaging

Written by Big Bot on March 12, 2008 | Animated,Hasbro,News,Toys |

TFW2005 member Locustreign has picked up Prowl and Lockdown from China, but they came in European packaging.

What’s interesting about this is that unlike the North American packaging, which has the character profile on the back of the packaging, this one has the profile on the back of the instruction manual.

Bay Scouting in Egypt?

Written by Big Bot on March 11, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Shoot for the Edit forum administrator, nelson, is rumouring that Transformers 2 director Michael Bay is currently scouting in Egypt for a location for the movie.

It would be nice to see some of the main story take place outside of the good old US of A, but we will have to see.

Revelations Revealed!

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,Generation One,IDW Publishing,News |

After the end of The Transformers: Devastation this month, fans have been not only wondering when the next series starts but which series it will be. All Hail Megatron and Revelations have been mentioned but not officially announced until now.

Chris Ryall, on his blog, has posted the first details on the next arc, the ‘Transformers Revelations Saga’. However, instead of being a 6 issue story arc like Infiltration, Escalation and Devastation before, the re will instead be four chapter, presented as Spotlights.

This may sound confusing but Chris had this to say on the naming of the series “It’ll be, like, Transformers Spotlight: Cyclonus, with the “Revelations Saga, part 1″ as a subtitle or some such.”.

As you will have gathered from that quote, the first Spotlight will be on Cyclonus, with the second being Hardhead, and both covers have been shown. The other 2 characters we will let you debate over from the sketch.

E.J. Su and Nick Roche will be providing covers for all four issues with Su also doing the artwork for issues 1 and 4. The series is set to start in June.

Coloured Animated Grimlock Toy Pictures

Written by Big Bot on March 10, 2008 | Animated,News,Toys |

A new image on Actoys.net has provided the first look at a coloured version of the Transformers: Animated Grimlock toy.

The photo shows Grimlock in his T-Rex mode with his fire sword accessory, which was featured briefly in last weekends episode. The item can be used when in robot mode. Speaking of robot mode, there is no photo of this.

Hasbro haven’t announced when the figure will be released or what wave Autobot Grimlock will be part of.
