Hasbro have updated their Transformers Universe website with official colour images ofDeluxes Prowl, Tankor and Sunstreaker, Ultra Onslaught and Robot Heroes 2 packs.

Launching in Fall ‘08, Hasbro will introduce TRANSFORMERS Universe, a new ‘world of’ TRANSFORMERS segment that celebrates the nearly 25-year heritage of the brand.  The Universe segment will include Robot Heroes and Legends, Deluxe, Voyager and Ultra classes.  Inspired by the look and spirit of the original figures, the TRANSFORMERS Universe line will feature realistically-styled versions of classic TRANSFORMERS characters.  Advances in design and technology has allowed us to bring the most beloved characters to today’s TRANFORMERS’ kids, while giving fans a chance to relive their childhood with the most realistic AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS figures available.

Toshiba to drop HD DVD

News filtering out of Japan says that Toshiba will be pulling out of the HD DVD format, which will pave the way for Paramount and Universal to switch over to Blu-ray. This will bring about the quick release of Transformers on Blu-ray, as the discs had already been made back in September 2007 but were stored away after Paramount decided to join the HD DVD group. this has all been mentioned by the Hollywood Reporter.

Also, in Circuit City computers, an enpoyee has spotted a listing for a 2disc Blu-ray edition of Transformers. All rumours still but this format war may be coming to an end.

Encore Minibots Lineup Revealed?

Red Mercury, an online Japanese retailer has put up a picture of what looks like the linup for TakaraTomy’s Encore 09 Minibots.

In the picture there is Bumblebee, Swerve, Pipes, Tailgate and Outback. We will have more confirmation once other retailers have updated their listings.

The set is due out in May 08.

After a 3 week break, a new episode of Transformers: Animated airs today on Cartoon Network in the USA ay 10:30am Pacific Time. ‘Along Came a Spider’ is the sixth episode in the series and features the same title as the book and film.

An official update on StarWars.com has revealed the next wave of Star Wars Transformers in 2008 from Hasbro. They have 18 planned so far.

Star Wars Transformers Assortment (Approximate retail price: $14.99; Ages 5 and up; Available: July 26, 2008) Heroes and villains from Star Wars become toys that are MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE in the marriage between two of the universe’s most powerful properties: Star Wars and the Transformers brand. A total of 18 Star Wars Transformers figures will be available in 2008.

Botcon Non-Attending Packages Sold Out

Fun Productions have posted an update on the BotCon website with news that they have stopped selling the Convention Box Set to non-attendees. The figure sets are being reserved to fans who can attend.

This will be disappointing to non North America fans, who find it hard enough to attend the convention due to the high prices, increased membership fees for the Transformers Club and the fact that the convention is never hosted outside the USA.

Due to unprecedented demand for our Convention Boxed Sets, we have had to stop accepting Iacon (non-attending) package orders for BotCon 2008. The remaining boxed sets will be reserved for those fans who want to attend
the convention in Cincinnati, OH, April 24th-27th.

While we are consulting with the manufacturer to see if there is a way to increase the quantity of the boxed sets,
we do not expect this will be possible, orders received after 02/14/08 will be put on a wait list.
Thanks for the overwhelming response!

We appreciate the high esteem you have placed on the 2008 and all of our past year’s BotCon sets.
We will be sure to keep you updated on the situation.
