IDW Press Release for Reign of Starscream

IDW Publishing have released an official press release for their Transformers movie sequel comic, Transformers: The Reign of Starscream.

Transformers Comic Series Continues Story From Blockbuster Movie

All-new official sequel from IDW picks up where the movie left off.

San Diego, CA (April 1, 2008)-IDW Publishing (www.idwpublishing.com) is releasing the official continuation of last summer’s blockbuster Transformers movie, from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro. The first storyline to spin out of the hugely successful movie, Transformers Movie Sequel: The Reign of Starscream continues the story from where the movie ended.

Co-writers Chris Ryall, who also wrote the Transformers Movie Prequel, and Chris Mowry present a tale of intrigue, betrayal, and dark ambition, featuring both old and new Transformers characters. “The movie left fans with some questions at the end, and we get a chance to answer them here,” says Ryall. “We pick up on what happened at the end and reveal the fates of some of the surviving film characters. Take Starscream – we find out where he was headed and what he was doing. We also introduce new characters. In doing so, we bridge the gap between the last movie and the next movie, coming in ’09.”

In the first issue of the five-part comic series, when Megatron falls in battle Starscream assumes the role of Decepticon leader on Earth. Mustering his surviving allies, he sets out to put his own plan in motion. But before he can do that, he’ll need to retrieve a fallen comrade, carry out a plan of revenge and leave Earth to meet up with a major player in the Decepticon army.

The Reign of Starscream #1 features art from fan-favorite Alex Milne, who also illustrated the Transformers Movie Adaptation, and cover art by Milne and Gabriel Rodriguez, artist for Joe Hill’s Locke & Key. A special variant cover has also been created by longtime Transformers artist James Raiz.

The first issue (item code FEB08 3801) will be in stores in April; call 1-888-comic-book (1-888-266-4226) to find a store near you.

April Fools from Transformers Club

Written by Big Bot on | BotCon,Comics,Conventions,News |

In one of the funnier April Fools in recent years, the Official Transformers Club posted three comic pages that turned out to be special made just for yesterday.

Originally, it was announced that 3 pages of the BotCon 08 comic would be previewed on 3rd April, but 3 different pages were “leaked” early. Ironically, the pages have gotten a lot of fan praise, with hopes that the comic will be continued in some form.

The official comic will still be revealed this Thursday, with a new guest as well.

BotCon 2008 takes place on 24th-27th April

04/01/08 – Happy April Fools’ Day!
As many of you know, a few fan sites front paged the news of our “leaked” 3 page comic preview during the midnight hours. Well, yes, it is true, those pages were done specifically for April Fools Day. A big thanks to Greg Sepelak and S. Trent Troop for helping to pull off the joke. However, fear not, for those of you who just loved the return to the G2 style and all the camp that accompanied it, we might just have a little something else featuring this “cast” for you down the road. I, Grimlock, would be scandalized if we didn’t!

We will still be putting up a 3 page preview this Thursday, April 3rd. This though is no joke…We are very pleased to announce that Don Figueroa is the artist behind this years book, returning to Transformers for this special endeavor!

April Fools and News

Written by Big Bot on | News |

The one day of the year when the whole internet turns even more stupid. If you hear anything that seems to good to be true, it probably is.

So if you hear that Hasbro are reissuing Fortress Maximus, a true animated sequel to Beast Machines by Mainframe is being produced or that BotCon will be held outside North America, no matter how good it sounds, it isn’t happening.
