Hasbro Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Revealed!

Written by Duh_Prez on June 2, 2011 | News |

Hasbro have announced their much anticipated version of Masterpiece Rodimus Prime.

Fans will remember the toy previously being released by Takara-Tomy with a different paint job and importantly, a trailer.

With the release of a Hasbro version of this toy – reportedly coming in nearer the £60 mark than the £120 you would have to shell out for the Japanese counterpart – UK Transformers fans can rejoice!… well, assuming it makes it’s way to our shores that is.

All UK fans except this one anyway, as I am very happy with my sexy Japanese version dammit.  I’m sorry, but with no ability to *actually* complete the transformation into Rodimus’ Winnebago on fire mode, this to me just seems to be a Hot Rod with a height change ability.  He does however come with a Targetmaster, which is pretty sweet.

The other major difference is the paint scheme which, at first glance, seems to be a mixture of the 1980’s Hot Rod Toy’s and possibly some of the marvel comic colours.  I don’t know and in honesty I don’t want to check as I think it looks rather garish nevertheless.

Yes, I shelled out £120 and I’m bitter.  Will I pick this up anyway?  Maybe, as I’m convinced the mold is possibly the greatest in Transformers history; and given that he has two robot modes to display, what’s not to love, really?

Disagree with me?  Come let us know in our big alcoholic fueled Transformers Forum 🙂
