Optimus Prime enters the political arena

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on March 25, 2010 | News |

Let’s face it, we’d all like to see Optimus Prime run for president of the United States. He’s noble, caring, full of charisma and he’d personally wage the war on terror – however as Optimus is fictional his entry into any presidential race is unlikely.

Or so you’d think…

Optimus Prime is actually involved in a presidential election campaign this very instant, in the Philippines. Optimus is part of the presidential campaign for Richard Gordon, and his running-mate Bayani Fernando.

The pair are big Transformers fans, and they have used the Transformers all the way through their campaign – culminating in the creation of two Optimus Prime trucks which have been used to tour the Philippines drumming up support. One of the Primes follows the pair around the country, while the second Prime has been touring independently to raise support for their campaign.

Transformers have played a big part in the election process so far, with Richard Gordon and Bayani Fernando referring to themselves as ‘the Transformers’. In a recent interview the pair stated:

We are transformational leaders. We represent change.

Gordon elaborated:

I transformed Olongapo from a sin city to a model area, with an employment of 200,000.

If you want to follow Richard Gordon and Bayani Fernando in the election, and to see what happens with their campaign and the two Optimus Primes, you can do so on their website.

We wish him the best of luck!

  1. Optimus Prime is not good at all.
He is the evil robot beyond everyone!

He has this yellow robot “looking after” Sam.
But whenever Sam wants to do something, Bumblebee takes his fait and destroys it.
-Sam gets to be the weird guy at school, nobody wants to hang with and are a little afraid of.
-Sam on a date…. well, the leader of the transformers don`t think Sam should really date at all.
-Optimus Prime plays the role of God, and Michael Bay may be attatched to that character. Sam is the guy Optimus likes to be with, on his terms.

Who knows, maybe the transformers leader is controllong all the robots, and just hate Sam beyond imagination.

I`m glad this stuff is not real……
