As Don Murphy announced on Facebook last night (yes, Facebook… you really should get your news from the source) Transformers 3 has been set for a July 1st release in 2011 and Michael Bay is set to return as the director.
There were false rumours flying around for some months that Bay was done with Transformers, but these were just derived from misquotes from Bay that he didn’t want to think about Transformers 3 for a while.
Well he’s thought about it and he’s happy to continue. Fans of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox will be pleased to know that they’re also set to return.
Let’s hope that this time we get Dinobots… mmm… Dinobots.
Sadly, I have every doubt that the Dinobots will appear, as Bay is (I believe) on record as saying he f***ing hates the Dinobots.
I love the Dinobots.
Bay is now on my hit list…

Maybe they go back in time and “hatch” some dinosaur eggs. This could solve the Decepticons “hatchling” problems. Bay must have watched Van helsing to get his ideas.
I’m not even sure i will get the new movie when it comes out on blu-ray. Terminator decepticon chick? no no no, why not just replace the whole government with pretenders.
Wafer thin decepticon spy, oh i look like a thin chicken. Feck off
Jet fire should have been young and kick ass (should robots even age?).
Hatchling – need i say more?
Oh annoying nazi 5″ tall decepticon doctor with Matrix style probes.
One last hate – every new character getting one or two scenes before being killed off for good, some without a single line of dialog (most people wouldn’t even know they’re names).

See, I didn’t mind most of that. Yes, the “hatching” new Decepticons was something of a “WTF?” moment, as was the method for collecting energon, and it was criminal Sideswipe was sidelined for more shots of those bloody twins, but broadly it gave pretty much all I wanted from a giant robot war movie, which was giant robots kicking the crap out of each other.
Transformers 3… Well, that one I might think twice about.

If the 3rd sequel comes make sure there’s no sexual innuendos, I was raised watching Transformers and I love them there’s no for that kind of humor when young kids are watching it. I wished they take out the sexual innuendos from the DVD release of T2 that way I can buy it.

I doubt that they’ll bring in Dinobots. Hopefully we’ll get Shockwave, Lazerbeak, Thundercracker, Skywarp and bring back Baricade for the Decpticons. For the Autobots I hope they revive Jazz (they did it for Megatron and Optimus) and bring in Sunstreaker and Breakaway. And for everyone’s sake, more scenes and dialog for ACTUAL TRANSFORMERS! Total Autobot lines with the exception of Prime and the Twins – Sideswipe = 1 line, Ironhide = 3 lines, Ratchet = 2, Jolt = 0. Sad, sad sad. Please at least change that for TF3.

Superion should have defeated Devastator (technically they are from different eras i.e pre and post 1986 movie) but Devastator being defeated by those annoying twins (I think maybe Optimus had a hand in it too, ive only seen it once) was just wrong… There was ideal oppourtunity too, when they found Jet fire they zoomed in on Concorde where i got midly excited as that could have been Silverbolt but sadly no….
