Epic Games CliffyB has cool game idea

Written by Big Bot on December 5, 2007 | News,Video Games |

This isn’t exactly news but we know you love something different. Epic Games, the studio behind Gears of Wars and the Unreal Tournament series, Lead Designer Cliff Bleszinski (or Cliffy B as most people call him) is actually a big Transformers fan and has put forward really good idea for a Transformers game in the latest ToyFare issue. So Activision, if you’re reading this, sign up Epic Games, and get this game made:

BLESZINSKI: I’d do the first movie as a playable title. Imagine fighting off thousands of Sharktacons… defending Autobot city while it transforms… or even climbing all over Unicron himself “Shadow of the Colossus” style. I want to control Hot Rod while he’s tearing up the mountainside and that rock song “Dare” is playing in the background. I want the option of Optimus Prime surviving that damned fight with Megatron. I want a Starscream shooting gallery as Galvatron and a Junkion level and a playable Arcee. Will someone out there please make this game already?

Titan Transformers UK #8 Scorponok

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,News,Titan,Transformers movie (2007) |

Simon has been busy recently, but has managed to complete the script for Titan’s Transformers #8, which will be focused on Scorponok. The story for the issue will take place after the events in the movie.

Issue #8 is written by Simon Furman (obviously) with art from Staz Johnson, who work for Marvel UK on some Transformers stuff, with the cover by Gary Erskine. The issue is expected out in late January/early February.

There is also a teaser for issue #9, which Simon describes as “epic”.

Definitely on the better late than never scale, here’s my post-script discourse on Transformers (UK) #8 (or at least the original strip bit of it). Another ’squeezed into a bit of dead space in the movie’ story, this one concerns the fate of Scorponok, last seen burrowing underground in an almightly hurry after the aerial barrage in Qatar.

Confirmation & Artist on Spotlight Grimlock

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,Generation One,IDW Publishing,News |

With Simon Furman’s latest blog entry focusing on the release of Titan’s Transformers UK #6 on 6th December, he has let slip some information on the all-but-confirmed Transformers Spotlight: Grimlock, coming next year.

Marcelo Matere has been mentioned to be doing the artwork for this latest Spotlight, as well as the art on UK#6.

Story is by me, art is by the ever-wonderful Marcelo Matere (Transformers Spotlight: Soundwave and the upcoming Transformers Spotlight: Grimlock).

Michael Bay: Blame Microsoft for no Blu-ray

Written by Big Bot on December 4, 2007 | News,Transformers movie (2007) |

Transformers director Michael Bay earlier this year blasted at Paramount and Dreamworks decision to go HD DVD exclusive, meaning Transformers would not be released on the more popular Blu-ray format. He has again today made mention of the next generation format war, with reference to Microsoft, blaming them for continuing the fight in a hope that both formats are ignored completely and digital downloads become the way to go. This isn’t exactly Transformers related but it is interesting to see what Bay really thinks :

What you don’t understand is corporate politics. Microsoft wants both formats to fail so they can be heroes and make the world move to digital downloads. That is the dirty secret no one is talking about. That is why Microsoft is handing out $100 million dollar checks to studios just embrace the HD DVD and not the leading, and superior Blu Ray. They want confusion in the market until they perfect the digital downloads. Time will tell and you will see the truth.

RUMOUR: Jazz back for Sequel?

Time for Michael Bay to try and have some fun. blackamericaweb.com have had a chat with Jazz voice actor Darius McCrary. In the article, it is mentioned that:

Last summer, McCrary starred as Autobot Jazz in the 4th of July blockbuster “Transformers” and is currently in talks to return for the sequel.

However, there is no quote from McCrary saying this and given the fact that Jazz died in the first film, it seems unlikely that he will be back. Add this to Michael Bay previously saying that he would put fake information out there, we’re putting this under false.
