The first release from Metrodome got off to a shakey start with the set being delayed a month due to some last minute extra features being included. The decision was made to start with season 2 as Maverick had just released Season 1 in September 2002 and the prospect of buying the same episodes again just a year later would not have been popular.
This UK Region 2 boxset was released in November 2003 by Metrodome under the T.V. Loonland Banner. T.V. Loonland aquired the rights to Transformers in the UK from Sunbow, causing Maverick Entertainment to lose out. TheTransformers.Net advised Metrodome of what episodes to include, how to structure the boxset and what features to look for.
The set is similar to the Rhino release, using the same remastered episodes. Veteran Transformers comic artist Lee Sullivan has been commissioned to create some designs for the DVD, both the packaging and the DVD itself. TheTransformers.Net provided them with a CD of FanArt for a gallery on the DVD. The set will also included a Quiz, some character profiles, some of the features from the Rhino Region 1 release and more.
