Simon Furman’s Review of 2007

Simon Furman has looked back at the year 2007 and how it has panned out for himself. He mentions his work for IDW, including, the Movie Prequel, Escalation, Devastation and the Spotlights, and the next set of Beast Wars books.

He also discusses his non-Transformers work, his travelling to conventions and his enjoyment in writing his blog, which only started last March.

IDW’s Transformers Movie Sequel Comic Cover

The Lying In The Gutters column on Comic Book Resources has posted the cover to IDW’s Transformers movie Sequel Comic Book. This series takes place after the events of the Transformers movie and involves and certain Transformer called Starscream.

The cover features that Decepticon in a homage to Marvel’s classic Transformers issue #5 comic, which had Shockwave in a similar stance and the same words scratched into the wall.

Dreamwave Beast Wars Script

Simon Furman has uploaded a special Christmas present for all Transformers fans, the original script for Dreamwave’s Beast Wars Issue #1, which was due to come out in 2006 before the company went bankrupt. It makes an interesting read for any Beast Wars fans who are interested in how it would have differed for IDW’s Beast Wars series, The Gathering.

IDW March 08 Solicitations – Another Spotlight Announced

IDW Publishing’s releases for March 2008 have been announced and there are a couple of surprises. The first is the news that the next Spotlight issue after Spotlight: Grimlock is Spotlight: Mirage! The issue is written by George Strayton with art and the cover by Guido Guidi.

Spotlight Grimlock, which has already been announced, has a cover up at Comics Continuum but there is a MAJOR spoiler on that cover for the entire IDW series.

Continuing the Marvel UK reprinted material is Space Pirates #1 in IDW’s renamed Best of UK.

Finally, there is something different, with The Transformers: Focus On Decepticons. The “preview” issue, 24 pages for $3, looks at the evil Decepticons but also at stuff from the Movie sequel. Full solicitations can be found below:

Simon Furman Talks on Spotlight Grimlock

In his latest entry on his blog, Simon Furman has posted some teaser information on his favourite character’s spotlight issue, Grimlock. He has hinted that the comic plans a part in setting up one of 2008’s big ‘events’. The issue is released in March 2008 with art by Marcelo Matere and Simon on the writing duties.

TF Animated Volumes 3 & 4 Covers

Amazon.com have put up pre-orders for comics Transformers: Animated Volume 3 & Volume 4. The 2 books will contain screen captures from the TV show and formatted into a comic. Volume 3 is released in May, with Volume 4 a month later in June.

Each volume will contain 2 episodes worth of content.

More Transformers comics have been released today from IDW Publishing. Continuing the 4 issue saga, Beast Wars: The Ascending Issue #3 is out, along with three books with reprinted material; Transformers Magazine Issue #4, Best of UK: Dinobots Issue #4 (from the Marvel UK catalogue), and the Megatron Origin TPB, which series as an origin story for IDW’s G1 universe.
