What Do You Want In Transformers The Ark Volume 2?

With the apparent success of Transformers The Ark earlier this year, IDW Publishing are planning on a second volume with more original character models from the TV show and comics.

The collection will contain over 200 pages with stuff from Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, Zone, Studio Ox designs, advertisements and much more. The book is due in the summer of 2008, but IDW want your suggestions for what you would like to see.

Hopefully the success of this book will lead to similar projects involving other Transformers series.

Comics News International have posted the first pages from IDW Publishing’s Transformers Animated comic series. The first issue, Transformers: Animated Vol. 1, is due out in January 2008 and is an adaptation of the 70 minute movie. The comic is made using screen captures from the actual cartoon and the script.

No More Revelations

Written by Big Bot on December 10, 2007 | Comics,Generation One,IDW Publishing,News |

Simon Furman has posted some juicey information in the comments section of his blog on the title of the next Transformers story arc title:

Right now, writing-wise, I’ve just finished up on the outline/overview for the next big story arc, and it’s NOT ‘Revelation.’ Boy I love to tease.

This could mean a few things, like a new Stormbringer like story that happens at the same time or is needed before Revelations or it could just mean a complete name change altogether.

ARE YOU THE NEXT TRANSFORMERS COVER ARTIST?

Written by Big Bot on December 6, 2007 | Comics,IDW Publishing,News |

Well here’s your chance.

The masterminds behind the “Transformers: Mosaic,” in partnership with Chris Ryall, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of IDW Publishing, are running a competition for all Transformers artists, which gives them the chance to be considered for providing a variant cover to an upcoming Transformers comic produced by IDW Publishing.

Excited yet? Good, you should be.

So how does it work?

Step 1: Email your full name to Next.Tf.Cover.Artist@gmail.com by the end of December, 2007.

Step 2: On the first of January 2008, you will be emailed the name of the Transformer you are to provide a “cover” for.

Step 3: You have until February first to submit your work.

Step 4: Once all entries are in, they will be divided into groups based on characters used.

Step 5: All entries will be displayed on the IDW forums ( http://forum.idwpublishing.com/viewforum.php?f=2) and voting will commence. Voting will be open for 2 weeks.

Step 6: Once voting is complete, the top 3 artists from each group will be contacted and given another character to prepare a cover for and another month to complete.

Step 7: The second round of entries will be posted on IDW forums and voting will once again be carried out.

Step 8: Once voting on the second round is complete, the names and contact details of the top three artists will be given to Chris Ryall, who will work through the final process.

Things you need to know.

1. There is no guarantee that this will lead to paid work for IDW

2. All work should be submitted in line-art only, no colors allowed.

3. Be creative, designs can either be classic or your own redesign.

4. Voting can only be done by members of the IDW forum, and yes, you can vote for yourself.

So, if you think you’ve got what it takes, step up and prove it!

Titan Transformers UK #8 Scorponok

Written by Big Bot on December 5, 2007 | Comics,News,Titan,Transformers movie (2007) |

Simon has been busy recently, but has managed to complete the script for Titan’s Transformers #8, which will be focused on Scorponok. The story for the issue will take place after the events in the movie.

Issue #8 is written by Simon Furman (obviously) with art from Staz Johnson, who work for Marvel UK on some Transformers stuff, with the cover by Gary Erskine. The issue is expected out in late January/early February.

There is also a teaser for issue #9, which Simon describes as “epic”.

Definitely on the better late than never scale, here’s my post-script discourse on Transformers (UK) #8 (or at least the original strip bit of it). Another ’squeezed into a bit of dead space in the movie’ story, this one concerns the fate of Scorponok, last seen burrowing underground in an almightly hurry after the aerial barrage in Qatar.

Story is by me, art is by the ever-wonderful Marcelo Matere (Transformers Spotlight: Soundwave and the upcoming Transformers Spotlight: Grimlock).
