Simon Furman Blog Bits and Pieces

Written by Big Bot on October 5, 2007 | Comics,News |

Simon’s back from Dublin and has felt the need to comment on the recent news that he will be contributing a page to the Transformers Mosaic, titled Hail and Farewell.

First and foremost, the news finally broke while I was away that I’ll be contributing a one-page story to the fan project Transformers Mosaic (go here for the full Newsarama interview with Josh Van Reyk and Shaun Knowler, the driving force behind Mosaic), which showcases new (one-page) strips by budding writers and artists, and is well worth your time to check out. The stories can be from any era or incarnation of Transformers and the one-page format makes for some pithy and unique storytelling. Anyway, I’m writing (or actually, have written) a story called “Hail and Farewell” which sits very much in the current IDW/TF continuity. It’s set a year or two ahead of where we are now (in Devastation) and features Hunter O’Nion and Sunstreaker. Can’t tell you any more, as it’s very difficult to tease here without giving too much away. But it touches on stuff that the main series will expand on big time.

Ask Chris Ryall Anything

Written by admin on | Comics,IDW Publishing,News |

IDW Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall, is having another of his ask me anything (well almost anything) threads on the IDW message boards. So far, there are 11 pages of questions, answers and annoying hints for future IDW Transformers comic stuff.

Here are some of the best from just page 1 (of 11 so far).

Q. Can you tell us any more about IDW’s involvement with the DVD release of the Transformers, or when it might be coming out?

A. Let me jump on the first few of these while I can. I can tell you the DVD is slated to come out in November, but I don’t know what date. And I can tell you that the version sold at Target here in the states will come with an all-new 22-page Prequel comic written by me (all by my lonesome this time), with art by Don and Andrew Wildman. It features Starscream and some other Decepticons, and even a character that didn’t make it into the movie itself, Wreckage. This time, I had no Simon to fall back on, so I hope it works…

Q. Do the Spotlights continue after Spotlight Optimus Prime?

A. Yessir. One coming in November. Not written by Simon Furman (or me or Nick or Eric). Oooh!

Q. Are there any Ideas for a future Evolutions Title?

A. Not right now. The movie and surrounding projects have sort of taken over the spots for alternate TF realities right now. But I do hope to get back to those in ’08.

Q. Please force Hasbro at gunpoint to make a Stormbringer Thunderwing toy. Please. I’ll be good.

A. I know Simon, Don, and I would absolutely love that…

If you would like to submit your question and or the others, head on over to the IDW message boards now.
