It states that there will be 5 hours of extras (which is great) and have a PG rating.

So what do you think of the cover? Comments we’ve seen are bland and Prime looks cool.

The Transformers The Movie in UK Cinemas in May

Written by admin on March 22, 2007 | DVD,Metrodome,News,Transformers The Movie (1986) |

Yes, you read right, The Transformers The Movie will be in cinemas from 4th May. Only problem is, this is the 1986 Movie, not Paramount’s Transformers Movie. The film will be screening in London’s West End Theatre for 2 weeks. The showing is also backed up by the Ultimate Edition DVD a month later on 4th June. The original news can be read here.

Unfortunately, as we all know, the live action movie will not be out in the UK until 27th July.

Thanks to Prowlus2 of The Allspark for the news.

Sony Wonder to Close

Written by admin on March 15, 2007 | DVD,Generation One,News,Sony BMG,Transformers The Movie (1986) |

Bad news people. According Yahoo! News, Sony Wonder is in the process being closed by parent company Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

Sony BMG, who release DVDs through Sony Wonder, were responsible for last November’s Transformers The Movie 20th Anniversary DVD in North America and were planning to re-release Transformers Season 1 later this year, however this now seems uncertain.

This may also affect the content of Metrodome’s Transformers The Movie Ultimate Edition DVD, due out in the UK in June, as they were currently trying to aquire the rights to the extras.

THE TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE (ULTIMATE EDITION)

Written by admin on March 10, 2007 | DVD,Metrodome,News,Transformers The Movie (1986) |

Metrodome just sent out this newsletter about their Ultimate Edition Release of Transformers The Movie

THE TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE (ULTIMATE EDITION)

Hi all!

As you are no doubt aware, murmurings of Metrodome’s re-release of Transformers have been circulating within the Transformers fan base over the past year and fan sites have been rife with speculation. We announced just before Christmas, that Transformers the Movie – The Ultimate Edition will be released in June 2007 and we wanted to take this opportunity to update the fans and answer a few questions that we have seen crop up over the past few months.

First and foremost the Ultimate Edition will boast a widescreen picture that has been fully remastered with a progressive PAL to PAL conversion from the original negative and put through a rigorous colour correction process to ensure that the movie is the best it has ever looked. To see comparisons of the Ultimate Edition screenshots against older versions of the movie please log on to www.transformersdvd.com and view them in the Download Section.

In addition to a stunning picture, we have created a brand new 5.1 soundtrack for the movie. After the release of Reconstructed a few issues were raised by fans objecting to the extraneous sound effects that were introduced into the soundtrack and we have taken this into full consideration for the new audio. Chris McFeely, Transformers expert has painstakingly gone through Reconstructed and picked apart the soundtrack, highlighting the offending sounds and his report has helped us to create a 5.1 mix far more in tune with the original audio of the movie.

At this point in time the Ultimate Edition’s extra feature plans are still ongoing, but we can reveal that we are currently in talks with Nelson Shin (Director) Flint Dille, (Story Consultant) and Peter Cullen (the voice of Optimus Prime). A single disc and double disc edition will be released containing commentaries, interviews, alternate/deleted footage, DVD Rom material and much, much more.

Finally, we can reveal that Scramble City, the “lost” Japanese Takara episode will be featured on the Ultimate Edition. Scramble City was only broadcast in Japan to bridge the gap between the first and second series of Generation One and we are pleased to be able to present it for the first time on DVD in its original form.

With everything falling into place for this Ultimate Edition, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on news and extras in future newsletters. In the meantime, remember to preorder Transformers the Movie – The Ultimate Edition.

New Play.com DVD Listing

Written by admin on February 6, 2007 | Cybertron,DVD,Energon,Metrodome,News,Paramount |

Play.com have put up a listing for a new DVD, entitled ” Transformers The Classic Episodes“, for release on 30th April in the UK. It is not clear who is producing this DVD or what will be on it. The price is £5.99, which means there will only be a couple of episodes.

Most likely, it is a “best of” set from Metrodome will a couple of Generation 1 episodes or a DVD from Paramount with some Energon and Cybertron episodes.
