With the Transformers movie out on DVD today in the UK, Metrodome have decided to re-release the 1986 classic, Transformers The Movie, on UMD for Sony’s PSP. TFTM was originally released on UMD on 1st September 2005 when the PSP was released in Europe.
There are no special features on the disc and uses the same cover art as the Ultimate Edition DVD and Blu-ray disc.
As predicted, Asda will be carrying an exclusive edition of Transformers on DVD. As we mentioned earlier, the DVD is out on Monday in many editions. This edition is the same as the 1 disc edition, but comes with the Wal-Mart animated prequel DVD released back in October in North America. Asda got the exclusive due to Wal-Mart being there parent company. The news was received at TF@TM:
The DVD included the animated prequel on the extra and is in the same packaging as the regular UK release, only with a green sticker on the front explaining the different.
I’m sure you knew that Transformers was out Monday in the UK, just in time for Christmas and absolutely ages after it was released in the USA. Why are we always last in the UK?
Any road, the DVD can be bought from a great many places, but Play.com are always one of the cheapest. You can order it from them for just £12.99.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have today released Beast Machines Season 2 on DVD. The 2 disc set contains all 13 episodes in their original 4:3 format. The set has a RRP of £9.99 but can be found cheaper at many retailers. Unfortunately, there are no special features.
The 2 disc, in region 2 PAL format, can be bought separately as Beast Machines Season 2 Volume 1 and Volume 2 to give you a flavour of the series at a cheaper price.
Metrodome Distribution have announced the re-release of Transformers G1 on DVD with 2 sets. Transformers: Series One Part One and Transformers: Series One Part Two are coming out on 26th December 2007.
The sets are expected to contain 8 episodes each from series one. No bonus material has been announced and with the low RRP of £7.99, there isn’t expected to be any.
Paramount Home Entertainment have today released Transformers on DVD in Spain. As with other territories, there are multiple versions for you to choose from.
There is the regular single disc and 2 disc special edition, the 2 disc special edition in steelbook packaging with the IDW prequel comic and the HD DVD version with all the special features.
The discs come with English and Spanish audio and subtitles. The DVDs are Region 2 PAL encoded and the HD DVD version if region free.
Madman Entertainment have today released Transformers Headmasters on DVD in Australia. The 4 disc set contains all 35 episodes with the original Japanese audio and the famous StarTV English dub. Also included are English subtitles, but we are not sure yet whether these are teh Metrodome ones or completely new.
Extra features include an introductory booklet with episode guide, toy gallery, character art gallery, tech specs gallery and Japanese toy ads.
Like Metrodome, the set is region 0 (PAL format). We hope to have a full review soon.
Good news Australia, you may have lost to the English at Rugby, but at least you get Transformers on DVD 2 months before them. Available today are the 2 disc special edition, the 2 disc special edition in steelbook packaging an EzyDVD exclusive tin case, the Optimus Prime transformable packaging and the HD DVD version. All versions are region 4 PAL encoded.
Hong Kong, region 3 NTSC, get the regular 2 disc package, the 2 disc package in steelbook packaging and the transformable Optimus prime packaging. There is currently no news on an HD DVD version yet.
Beast Machines Season 2 comes out on DVD here in the UK on November 19th, and to get you prepared for that release we’ve been sent some video footage from the DVD itself.
