Latest Metrodome Newsletter – The Masterforce DVD is nearly here
Dear Transformers fans,
the long awaited second part of Transformers The Takara Collection (Vol 2) – Super God Masterforce is out next Monday as a 5 Disc boxset!
A genuinely stunning addition to the Transformers Generation One collection, Super God Masterforce showcases a new anime influenced look that provides a unique take on the classic animation style. The 5 disc set has a collector’s booklet by fan Chris McFeely, commentary by Chris on 3 episodes and all new subtitles created especially for this release (thoroughly researched and checked by fans). And to give you a taster we’re podcasting the entire first episode for free – all your need is a pc (broadband recommended), and to follow these instructions below.
To download the episode you’ll need a pc or mac and itunes (free to download from www.apple.com/itunes/download/ )
We’ll be posting the episodes in 5 segments over five days – with the first two live already and the next segments going live day by day this week.
We recommend that you only do this with broadband.., unless you’ve got the patience to let 20mb files download through a dial-up connection.
It’s very simple to get the podcast – once you’ve downloaded itunes you can just click on this link.
Alternately you can click on the podcast section of the itunes music store and search for Transformers. Our podcast is listed as being available from Metrodome.
And we also want to let you know about a fantastic competition in conjunction with play.com to win an original piece of signed artwork by our fantastic Masterforce cover artist – Nick Roche. This is a frankly splendid one off framed pencil drawing of Powermaster Prime. To find out how to win visit the Masterforce page on Play.com here.
Enjoy!

Latest RiD DVD news
The latest word on July’s first DVD release of “Robots in Disguise” is that it’s being bumped up from a single-disc release to two discs, and will contain the first eight episodes of the series, rather than just the first five.
BBFC rate Super-God Masterforce
The BBFC have (finally) rated all 42 episodes of Metrodome’s Transformers The Takara Collection Vol 2 Super-God Masterforce, due out on DVD on 3rd July only in the UK. The work was rated PG, passed with NO cuts and came in at 967 minutes and 13 seconds (thats over 16 hours of Transformers action). This includes the subtitles. You can also see the newly translated episode titles.
No Complete RID DVD Set
As Chris McFeely reported earlier, thetf.net forum member Casperuk had mentioned that Play.com have dispatched his order for the Complete RID Boxset, which had been confirmed as cancelled last month. Casperuk got his package today and had this to say
sorry lads and gals, i got this morning the part 1 of 2 box set for…………wait for it……………£29.99.
of course i called up and said OI whats going on and asked if i could have the second box set and my change
, but if the SIX disk version does exist i will get send that.
RiD comes to DVD this summer!
As announced by Daz on the forums a little while ago, “Transformers Robots in Disguise” is coming to DVD courtesy of UK company Maximum Entertainment. And now, we’ve got the goods on the first release – set for July 26th, the first disc will contain the first five episodes of the series, with another release set for October. Boxsets are a possibility in the future.
Stay tuned for new details as we get them!
Maverick lose out in Transformers rights!!!
Maverick Entertainment have lost the rights to Transformers in the UK. Fans expecting a release of the season 2 boxset on DVD will be disappointed to learn that there will be no more in the way of Transformers releases from Maverick.
TV LoonLand have prized the rights away from Maverick, and it’s unknown at this time what their first release will be. We wait with baited breath to find out.
Lee Sullivan in talks with Metrodome
Transformers comic artist Lee Sullivan is currently speaking to Metrodome about supplying artwork for their Season 2 DVD release. This could hopefully lead to a really great piece of artwork on the cover. We cross our fingers and pray for it in the forums.
Meanwhile it does look as though we’ll be getting two volumes for Season 2 as opposed to one big boxset as the financiers fainted at the cost. Still, it was worth a shot.
