New Images of Premium-Series Leader Optimus Prime

A new auction on ebay has pictures of the upcoming Transformers movie Premium-Series Optimus Prime figure. The Leader Class figure has a new paint scheme, which seems to give the figure a more metallic and detailed look, a new arm-blade and a new head sculpt, which resembles the movie version a lot more than the original figure.

New Official Transformers: Animated Wallpapers

Hasbro have updated their MonkeyBarTV site with four new desktop wallpapers. There is one with Starscream, one with Optimus Prime, one with all the Autobots in robot mode and one with the Autobots in vehicle mode.

For each wallpaper, there are 3 resolutions; 1280×1024, 1024×768 and 800×600.

There are also wallpapers for the Transformers movie and Transformers: Cybertron.

The first pictures of Transformers: Animated Voyager Optimus Prime are now online. This ebay auction shows the front and back of the packaging with the figure inside. The pictures show that there are differences between the deluxe and voyager versions.

Hasbro UK have put out a press release today, whilst at the UK Toy Fair, about Transformers: Animated and Transformers Universe, both coming later this year. Animated is due to start in March with the toys and cartoon and Universe in Autumn/Winter, which could mean around September, just after North America.

2007 was a hugely successful year for Transformers, with a blockbuster movie supporting an ever popular toy range. 2008 is set to be just as exciting with the release of the new Transformers: Animated series. Hitting TV screens from march, it’s a great twist to the classic story of the “robots in disguise”

Transformers will be exploding into living rooms across the country with the all-new Transformers: Animated series set to launch this Easter. featuring on Nickleodeon, fans everywhere will be treated with the next generation of the popular struggle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The series will be supported by a whole new range of action figures in the style of the new cartoon with some familiar faces such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron. The full toy line will be available mid year.

Transformers: Animated is a high-octane, animated action-adventure series based on the beloved 1980s ‘robots in disguise’ of toy and cartoon fame. The Autobots continue their battle against the Decepticons on Earth and this time they have human friends to help them in the search for the AllSpark, such as their energetic 8-year-old guide, Suri Sumdac.

Also launching this Autumn / Winter is the Universe Toy Range which is set to capture the classic Transformers styling, going back to Generation 1 and the Beast Wars, bringing back your favourite characters to excite and inspire a new generation of Transformer fans.

Official Images of Transformers Movie Limited Edition Battle Damaged Optimus Prime

More official images have been released by Hasbro, this time of Transformers movie Limited Edition Battle Damaged “Autobot Optimus Prime”.

The three images are in-package (North American version), in robot mode and in vehicle mode. This is the voyager version of Optimus Prime and is expected to be a store exclusive of some sort.

Movie Deep Desert Brawl Out in USA & Animated Toy Release Date

Transformers movie Leader class Deep Desert Brawl, a repaint of the original Decepticon Brawl (known as Devastator in the movie), has been found in store in the USA. The more interesting news is that the catalogue that comes with the toy has an advert for Transformers: Animated toys. The release date mentioned is June 2008.

The UK release date for Animated toys is rumoured to be April 2008, but if these dates turn out to be true, it will mark one of the first times (ever?) that the UK has started selling a main Transformers toyline before the USA.

Official Images of New Transformers Movie Robot Heroes

Official images of the next wave of Transformers Movie Robot Heroes toys have been released by Hasbro. The wave consists of Ironhide VS Dispensor, Optimus Prime VS Barricade, AllSpark Bumblebee VS Starscream and Battle Jazz VS Megatron.

As well as providing a sneak peak of the first wave of Transformers Universe toys, Hasbro have also created a cgi version of the classic fight between Optimus Prime and Megatron from Transformers The Movie.

The video, titled “They were always real to me” starts off with the original scene from the film, but suddenly changes to a modern cgi version, with all the classic set pieces from the fight, except for Hot Rod getting in the way.

The clip (1m 19s) can be found on Hasbro’s official Transformers Universe site.

Sneak Peak: Universe Wave 1

Hasbro have provided fans with a sneak peak of the first wave of their rebranded Universe line.

On the site, you’ll find unpainted photos of Transformers Universe Deluxe Sunstreaker, Prowl and Tankor and Ultra Powerglide and Onslaught with design notes from toys’ lead designer Bill Rawley and a release date (for the USA), of August 2008.

It has been rumoured that the UK will get them in May.

On the back of the news yesterday that images of Transformers movie AllSpark Power Salvage and Stealth Bumblebee have appeared on ebay, Hasbro has sent TFW2005 official photos of the figures, in box, in robot mode and vehicle mode.

No official release date has been announced.
