ILM Confirm More Robots in TF 2

Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Visual Effects Supervisor Scott Ferrar was at the Visual Effects Society awardsand like Michael Bay, who was also there, he was interviewed by the guys at IESB.

In the video interview, Ferrar mentioned that the sequel, Transformers 2, will have lots more robots in the film, backing up what Michael Bay had said previously.

The other video interview on the site is with Transformers visual effects artists Dave Folger, Ron Woodall, Alex Jaeger and Brian Gernand. They revealed that not all the team who worked on the first film will return for the sequel.

TakaraTomy Transformers Website Update: Black Arcee, Stockade, Sky Lynx

TakaraTomy have updated their Transformers website with new pages and pictures of their planned releases for this month.

There are pages for Transformers movie Black Arcee (MA-20) and Stockade (MD-23), as well as the long awaited reissue of Generation One Sky Lynx, who is being added to the Encore line.

BotCon 2008 Shattered Glass Optimus Prime

Fun Publications have posted the first image of the first toy from the BotCon 2008 Shattered Glass boxset. The figure is Shattered Glass Optimus Prime, sporting a new black and purple colour scheme.

Optimus Prime is just one of many figures that will be available during BotCon 2008. The official convention takes place from 24th April until the 27th April. Check back regular for more updates and previews for the other BotCon exclusive figures.

Woolies 25% off Transformers Offer

For any UK fans looking for a bargin on Transformers movie toys from Hasbro, Woolworths are having a 25% off sale on all Transformers stock. This is probably a move to sell off all remaining Transformers movie related products before Transformers: Animated toys come along in a few months time.

The latest Transformers movie Allspark line is out, with the Deluxes CliffJumper, Landmine & Camshaft all at £8.24.

Transformers 2: No Dinobots?

Transformers 2 director Michael Bay was present at VES awards last night and was interviewed by IESB.net, who put the proposal of the Dinobots being in the sequel. Michael didn’t deny it, but he didn’t confirm it. Instead, he commented on how things will be a lot more secretive this time around and the possiblity of scarping the film (not really).

Transformers Wins 4 VES Awards

After the disappointments of the BAFTA’s for Transformers, there was better news across the Atlantic, with the film winning four awards in the Visual Effects Society Awards.

Transformers won the main prize of outstanding visual effects in a visual effects-driven film and other prizes, including single visual effect of the year, for the highway sequence with Bonecrusher and Optimus Prime, models and miniatures, and compositing.

Collecting the top prize on bealf of ILM were Scott Farrar, Shari Hanson, Russell Earl and Scott Benza.

Hasbro Profits up for Q4

Hasbro are reporting that profits are higher than expected for the forth quarter after stronger sales of Transformers, Nerf and Furreal Friends. It is good to see that internationally, sales were up. This is mainly due to Hasbro actually releasing toys outisde North Amercia.

Hasbro’s international segment sales, meanwhile, climbed 29 percent as operating profit rose 40 percent.

LaBeouf Wins BAFTA Rising Star Award

In tonights Orange BAFTA awards, Transformers movie star Shia LaBeouf has won the fan nominated Orange Rising Star award. He beat British favourite Seinna Miller to the prize.

Unfortunately, Transformers was surprisingly not nominated for the best special effects award, which means we will have to wait until the Academy Awards at the end of the month to see if the film earns an award.

Transformers: Animated Released 20th June in Germany

TheTransformers.de (no relation) have received news that Transformers: Animated will be airing on 20th June on channel Super RTL. This will coinside with the release of the Transformers: Animated toyline from Hasbro, but not specific toy releases are known at this time.

Transformations 2008 Announced

Seibertron.com are reporting that the Dutch Transformers convention, titled Transformations, is making a return in 2008.

The event is due to take place on 8th June 2008 in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands and is suitably placed before BotCon (24th-27th April 2008) in the USA, TransformersCon (21st june 2008) in Canada and Auto Assembly (2nd August 2008) in the UK.
