Transformers: RID out on DVD Again Today

Written by Big Bot on October 15, 2007 | DVD,Maximum Entertainment,News |

The popularity of Transformers is bigger than ever with the release of the $700 million grossing movie last summer, and with it comes other companies releasing products to catch on to the hype.

Maximum Entertainment (with Jetix) have today rereleased Transformers: Robots In Disguise (RID) on DVD, exclusively in the UK. All 39 episodes will be on 2 boxsets, entitled Season One (episodes 1-20) and Season Two (episodes 21-39). New artwork has been commissioned, with Optimus Prime and Megatron on the covers. The sets orginally came out in October 2004 and April 2005.

Both DVDs are region 2 PAL encoded and rated PG.

Transformers DVD Details for Japan

Written by Big Bot on October 14, 2007 | DVD,News,Paramount,Transformers movie (2007) |

The last major territory to receive Transformers in the cinema was Japan. The Transformers toy creators and Movie advisors (Takara) will have to also wait the longest for the DVD, but it looks like the wait will be rewarding.

Paramount Japan have announced a range of packages for Japan, all being released on 19th December. The first is the standard 2 disc special edition being released all over the world, the second is the transformable packaging, also with the 2 discs and third is the HD DVD version. There is also a listing for a “special” edition, but not details have been revealed. Expect some super boxset at a very high price.

Full details can be found on Paramount Japan’s Official Transformers Site.

UK Comic Takes New Direction

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,News,Transformers movie (2007) |

With issue 4 of Titan’s Transformers comic out this week in all good newsagents, Simon Furman has provided some details on the next batch of issues and how they fit in with the live action movie and IDW’s Transformers comics.

Issues 1-4 have focused on individual characters and what they did during IDW’s Prequel story. This will continue with issues 5 and 6. Issues 7-12 will be more Earth based, filling in the gaps in the movie.

Issue 7, entitled “Starscream’s Militia”, picks up after Megatron is defeated and probably links in to the credit sequence. Written by Simon himself with art from Simon Williams, issue 7 is on sale from 3rd January 2008 in the UK.

Transformers is 2nd most searched for toy term this Christmas

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on October 11, 2007 | News,Toys |

According to Hitwise, Transformers are the second most searched for toy online in the run up to this Christmas, just behind the Bratz dolls. It seems that Transformers toys make up a staggering 11.9% of all toy related searches. Star Wars is nowhere to be seen!

Searches for Bratz dolls are double that for second placed Transformers, which have seen a big revival after the release of the Transformers movie this summer.

New Hasbro Website

Written by admin on | News |

For probably the first time ever, Hasbro UK have updated their website with a complete redesign. Unfortunately that’s it. The Official International Transformers Website still has never been updated and the same old toys are listed in the shop.

At least they kept their promise of relaunching their site, as we revealed back in May.
