Hook

Written by admin on October 11, 2007 | Characters,Comics,Marvel |

ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON
SUB-GROUP: CONSTRUCTICON

FUNCTION: SURGICAL ENGINEER
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 10

“Strive for perfection even if others must suffer.”

Profile: With the care and precision of a fine jeweler, Hook performs
his job with a skill unparallelled among all the Transformers. It doesn’t matter
whether he’s reconnecting a damaged microchip or setting a two ton girder into
place – in each case perfection is his final goal. Perhaps because he is a perfectionist
he has a snobbish, supercilious attitude toward his fellow Constructicons, since
he considers them generally crude and dim-witted. Although Hook may not win
any popularity contests, there’s no denying his superior abilities and the important
role they have in the Decepticons’ evil schemes.

Abilities: In vehicular mode, Hook can use his crane to lift objects
weighing up to 20 tons. In positioning these objects, his error tolerance is
less than .00001%. In robot mode he shows equal precision repairing his comrades
as the Decepticon surgeon. He carries a rocket launcher in vehicular mode and
a laser pistol in robot mode. He serves as the shoulders and head module that,
when combined with his fellow Constructicons, forms the giant robot known as
Devastator.

Weaknesses: The extreme care Hook takes in performing his job often
slows down his work to the point of antagonizing his fellow Decepticons and
endangering whatever operation they are involved in. Overuse of his crane can
result in metal stress fractures.

Freeway

Written by admin on | News |

ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT
SUB-GROUP: THROTTLEBOT

FUNCTION: SABOTEUR
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 30

“Words can cut deeper than steel.”

Profile: Freeway is the self-appointed comedian of the Autobots. He
specializes in a particularly vicious brand of insult humor and is not afraid
to aim his barbs at even the highest ranking of his comrades. He takes someone’s
slightest miscue as an excuse to unleash upon the poor fellow a merciless torrent
of verbal jabs. He never fails to get a rise out of his audience or completely
humiliate his victim. Probing deeper into Freeway’s psyche, one would find that
his comical behavior is a subconscious reaction to the high-pressure nature
of his job – a way to release tension. He is surprisingly sensitive when he
is the butt of a joke; he becomes clearly and extremely annoyed. If anyone laid
into him as he lays into others, no doubt Freeway would be an angry tangle of
overheated circuits.

Abilities: Freeway’s specialty is spreading misinformation and setting
traps. He’s adept at intercepting coded radio transmissions, interpreting them,
and then substituting his own erroneous signals instead. He’s equipped with
a broad-band, ultra-sensitive radio frequency detector and transmitter, disguised
as his car AM/FM radio, which enables him to do all this. He uses a variety
of gadgets for sabotage: sonic land mines, magnetic homing grenades and powerful,
rust-inducing oxidizing agents, to name a few. Sometimes, just for a laugh,
he’ll turn his destructive attention to a fellow Autobot, usually by using the
oxidizing agent to give his target a severe case of rustfoot.

Weaknesses: Freeway is not particularly strong or fast, but he usually
compensates for this with his cleverness. Sometimes he is a victim of his own
comedic talents – at times he laughs so hard at his own jokes that he’ll pop
a few internal circuits from their connections and disable himself.

Crosshairs

Written by admin on | Characters,Comics,Marvel |

ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT
SUB-GROUP: TARGETMASTER
HUMAN COMPONENT: PINPOINTER

FUNCTION: WEAPONS SUPERVISOR
FIRST APPEARANCE: HEADMASTERS # 1 (Crosshairs), HEADMASTERS # 4 (Pinpointer)

“Don’t shoot until you see the wires in their eyes.”

Profile: Crosshairs had a long career on Cybertron as the Autobots’
chief armory manager. He procured, maintained and supplied to his brethren the
latest and most lethal weapons. But he grew more and more disgusted with himself
as more and more Decepticons were consigned to the scrapyard, the awful result
of his labors. He reasoned there were better ways to use his time than stockpiling
implements of death. He quit the weapons business and joined the Autobot band
led by Fortress Maximus. When Fortress Maximus renounced war, Crosshairs was
one of the first to agree with him and one of the most vocal of his supporters.
However, events on the planet Nebulos soon forced these Autobots to take up
arms against the Decepticons again, and Crosshairs grudgingly went along. Given
his prior experience, he was appointed weapons supervisor by Fortress Maximus.
He’s meticulous, cautious – some would say overcautious. Although he’s less
than happy with his job, he’s very caring about it, and mindful of his limited
resources. He doesn’t like to waste ammo; he won’t take a shot unless he’s sure
he can’t miss, and encourages others to do the same.

Pinpointer was a biomass recycling engineer on Nebulos. As such, he shares
his binary-bonded partner Crosshairs’ concerns for efficiency and avoiding waste.
He’s very businesslike and can be brief in his words to the point of appearing
rude. But he is very reliable and an ideal Targetmaster.

Abilities: Pinpointer transforms into a dual rocket-propelled grenade
launcher who can lock on a target in less than .0003 seconds, but usually trusts
Crosshairs to tell him when to shoot. He can be fired by hand or mounted on
and operated by Crosshairs in vehicle mode. In vehicle mode Crosshairs has a
maximum speed of 160 mph and a range of 750 miles. He’s built for traversing
very rough terrain and has superior durability.

Weaknesses: In weapons mode, Pinpointer often suffers from nausea and
dizziness as a result of the exhaust fumes he inhales from his own grenade firings.
This can severely reduce his accuracy. Crosshairs sometimes becomes emotionally
overcome by the rampant destruction he witnesses in battle, hampering his combat
effectiveness.

TFC-06 Megatron still be released

Written by admin on | News |

Good friends XyberToys have sent out their latest newsletter with information on Transformers Collection #6 Megatron’s re-release. There is also news on MP-03 Starscream’s limited availability and wave 3 of the Titanium line.

Hi,

The 2nd ‘Binaltech’ figure from the Kiss Player line is now in stock, Hot Rodimus with Xiao Xiao. Hot Rod-imus looks great in the Ford GT car mode, and still comes with his G1 colour scheme too.

The 3rd wave of the Transformers Titanium 6″ figures are in Optimal Optimus, Scourge and Jetfire.
Hasbro has steadily improved the quality of this figure line, and is very evident in the paintwork and moulding on these new figures.

But just as they are doing better in some areas, Hasbro has pulled another stunt by delaying the release of the much anticipated Alternators Ravage and Rumble till January 2007. For those customers with pre-orders for these figures, your orders are still confirmed and you are assured your stock when they are released by Hasbro. We will be increasing our stock order for these 2 figures, so those who have not pre-ordered, here’s your chance now to secure them.

Some minor updates on other items

Those who have purchased a MP-03 Starscream, congrats! As Japan now is officially out of stock of this item, and this item has only seen a single production run with no plans for another run in sight. This Starscream would be a rarity in a short time to come.

We will be getting the new Hasbro Transformers Classics 2-packs and US store exclusives like Ultra Magnus / Skywarp 2-pack, so be sure to look out for our pre-orders.

There has been alot of buzz lately on the news about Takara’s #06 G1 Megatron Reissue, and there’s word that it’s a rumour and there was a report that Tom-Tak has denied it will be reissue by them.
Since we are taking orders for them, we decided to dig for more information from our suppliers and industry insiders
Seems that the reissue is still confirmed, but it would be done as a ‘custom’ reproduction for the Asian market, and is a project approved by Tomy, not Takara (since Tomy now owns Takara, they have the say).
So with that, we would still be receiving pre-orders for this item, and would comfortably assure customers that it will still be in stock sometime December.

No Transformers for Duncan

Written by admin on | News,Transformers movie (2007) |

Michael Clarke Duncan, who had previously been reported as having signed up for the Transformers movie, is not going to appear in the film.

“It wasn’t for lack of trying though. Believe me, trust me when I say I wanted to do that movie. I’m a big kid at heart. I watched Transformers. That was one of my favorite cartoons. Optimus Prime was one of my favorite characters and to be head of a Navy SEAL team going in and fighting these gigantic robots would have been perfect.”

Written by admin on | News,Transformers movie (2007) |

MTV.com have interviews Tyrese Gibson, who has revealed that he is playing a character called Epps in The Transformers movie. Here is a short extract from the article

“We are doing it up. It’s going to be special.” Still marveling over the vehicles he has seen, the actor said he couldn’t divulge any details about the classic Transformers (Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc.) or the new additions that will appear in the November 2007 movie. “The film is top-secret. They’ve got me on a straight tight lip on this one. But the director, Michael Bay, is doing an incredible job. [Producer Steven] Spielberg pops his head around the set all the time.
