Super Base Prime in Argos

Written by admin on October 11, 2007 | News |

Hi folks! I’m new to this part of the site, but you might have seen me shuffling around the messageboard. I’d have posted some news on something or other sooner, only I’m suffering from computer troubles at the mo. Nevertheless, my comp is working long enough to let me get this posted.

Anyone on the look out for Armada’s Super Base Optimus Prime should head for Argos, where he’s in stock for around £38. He’s also in the Index catalogue, but I haven’t heard if he’s been found in stock in any Index stores. Reports say that this Prime is the modified version which was released later in America, with super mode arms which rotate around fully, instead of the limited motion that the first run of the toy had. Also, in at least one instance, the catalogue/comic packaged with the toy was the 4th volume, which has only recently been released in the US, containing the Unicron Battles, TF Universe and Built to Rule toy listings.

The Transformers UK Issue #204

Written by admin on | Comics,Marvel |

Tentakil

Written by admin on | News |

ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON
SUB-GROUP: SEACON
FUNCTION: UNDERWATER DEMOLITIONS
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 47

“Embrace your enemies… until they’re terminated.”

Profile: Don’t be deceived by Tentakil’s gentle touch and soothing words
– he is undeniably the cruelest, deadliest Seacon. His style is as distinctive
as it is lethal: he showers a potential victim with kindness, offering him help,
even complimenting his appearance. And then, once he has gained the confidence
of his victim, Tentakil moves in for the kill. In a flash, kindness turns to
cruelty. The soft caress of his limbs turns into a deadly, unyielding stranglehold.
He seems to take a perverse pleasure in these amiable charades, enjoying them
even more than their inevitable, lethal conclusions. As his fellow Seacon, Nautilator,
likes to say about him, “Tentakil can charm the fuel right out of your
chassis.” And given half a chance, he will.

Abilities: In octopus mode, Tentakil can crush a submarine as if it
were a soda can. Powerful electromagnets embedded within his tentacles enhance
his strength to awesome proportions, giving Tentakil the vise-like grip that
he is infamous for. Electrically charged feelers on his tentacles’ surfaces
can short-circuit and stun anything of an electrical nature on contact. While
retreating, he can discharge a cloud of viscous black grease to hinder any pursuers.
In weapons mode, he turns into twin 50,000 volt lightning rifles, which can
operate on land and sea. He is insulated from any electrical attacks himself,
so the rifles can’t electrocute him underwater. In robot and octopus modes,
he wields dual laser-guided slime blasters, which shoot globs of highly adhesive
gelatinous goo. He combines with his fellow Seacons to form the super-robot
Piranacon.

Weaknesses: A mysterious short circuit in his wiring often inhibits
Tentakil’s ability to transform from one mode to another. This causes him severe
problems when he’s stuck in robot mode underwater, or octopus mode on land.
In these situations, the modes are poorly suited for the environments. In fact,
on land, his octopus mode is more likely to keel over than take a step.

Skywarp

Written by admin on | News |

ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON

FUNCTION: WARRIOR
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1

“Strike when the enemy isn’t looking.”

Profile: Skywarp is the sneakiest of the Decepticons. On Cybertron he
was known to appear out of nowhere in the middle of peaceful Autobot villages
to rain terror and destruction upon them, if the mood hit him. He’ll even use
his teleportation powers to play a prank on a fellow Decepticon. Everyone enjoys
this except the butt of his joke since Skywarp’s sense of humor tends to be
rather cruel and physically abusive. Skywarp isn’t too smart and would be totally
useless without the supervision of Megatron.

Abilities: Skywarp can reach a top speed of 1500 mph. But what makes
him unique is his ability to instantly teleport himself a maximum distance of
2.5 miles. He also carries a heat-seeking missile launcher and a variable-caliber
machine gun.

Weaknesses: Skywarp’s control of the accuracy of his teleportation power
diminishes as the distance he teleports increases. As a result, if he’s not
too careful, he’s likely to crash into things when he arrives at where he’s
teleporting. Not being too bright doesn’t help him avoid these accidents either.

Scrapper

Written by admin on | Characters,Comics,Marvel |

ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON
SUB-GROUP: CONSTRUCTICON

FUNCTION: CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 10

“My work is a monument to – and of – my enemies.”

Profile: Scrapper is a wizard at designing fortresses and energy production
plants for the Decepticons. Disguising his creations to blend unnoticed into
the surrounding alien human landscapes comes almost as easily to him. He modestly
shrugs off the acclaim these talents inspire from his comrades. After all, he
feels he is just fulfilling the requirements of his job. But overcoming an enemy
Autobot and secreting his body in the foundation or structural skeleton of one
of his buildings is another story. It is in such cases that Scrapper exhibits
his true malevolent genius and relishes the admiration and praise it garners.
Megatron considers him the most valuable of the Constructicons.

Abilities: In vehicular mode, Scrapper’s shovel can slice through 12-inch
thick carbon-steel plate and lift up to 30 tons. By adding on his single-jet
levitation wing he can fly at 60 mph for 250 miles. In robot mode he has immense
strength and carries a laser pistol. When combined with his fellow Constructicons,
he serves as the right leg module and part of the torso module in the giant
robot known as Devastator.

Weaknesses: While flying, Scrapper is a very vulnerable target due to
his lack of speed and maneuverability. His shovel is prone to metal stress fractures
if overused.

Ramjet

Written by admin on | News |

ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON

FUNCTION: WARRIOR
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 17

“If it flies, crash it.”

Profile: Mid-air collisions are Ramjet’s specialty. Whether the target
is an opponent or not makes little difference – Ramjet will crash him or it
just for the pure fun of it. He’s built to survive such crashes, which is probably
his greatest asset, since hardly anyone in flight would expect a jet fighter
to purposely try to collide with him. These one-sided jousts make him a terror
without equal in the skies. As he often boasts, “The skies are my castle,
and I like to live alone.”

Abilities: In jet form, Ramjet has a nose module that can absorb and
withstand an impact with a 3 foot-thick concrete wall at a speed of 1500 mph.
The rest of his form is not quite as durable, but is still very resistant to
impact. He can go as fast as Mach 2.8. He carries two cluster bomb missile launchers
and two laser beam rifles. He’s also very durable in robot mode.

Weaknesses: Ramjet’s tendency to aim at neutral targets often results
in his creating new enemies, a consequence about which he rarely shows concern.
Although very resistant to impact, too many crashes can take their toll on Ramjet’s
body, particularly his internal mechanical workings.
