Written by Big Bot on November 17, 2008 | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags:

OK, that’s a lie, but you can make up your own decision on Wednesday when The Transformers Spotlight: Optimus Prime is re-released in 3D, IDW’s first ever book in the format. Or you can check out this five page preview from Chris Ryall if you happen to have a pair of 3D glasses hanging around the house.

IDW Comic Releases – 19/11/08

Lots of new books this week, however, none of them are completely new to dedicated readers.

Firstly there are 3 reprints of IDW’s cartoon screencap series of Transformers: Animated books, Transformers: Animated Vol. 1 [3rd printing], Transformers: Animated Vol. 3 [2nd printing] and Transformers: Animated Vol. 4 [2nd printing]. Next up is also a 3D version of Spotlight: Optimus Prime (with 3D glasses), which came out mid 2007.

Finally, the real deal this week is Transformers: The Reign of Starscream TPB, the official sequel comic to the 2007 Hollywood blockbuster. It comes with a whole host of extra material, and will prepare you for IDW’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen prequel series, starting next month.

Chris Ryall has the covers for 3D Optimus Prime and ROS TPB.

Rumour: Transformers Extended Edition Coming in 2009

Written by Big Bot on | DVD,News,Paramount,Transformers movie (2007) | Tags:

According to The Digital Bits, who are very reliable with anything to do with the home video format, Paramount will again be releasing Transformers on DVD and Blu-ray in 2009, to coincide with transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but this time in an extended format.

The most likely length of this new edition will be the Imax version of the film, which added a few needless scenes.

From Paramount, we’re hearing that a Transformers: Extended Edition is planned for DVD and Blu-ray release in 2009, likely timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Bay’s sequel film next summer.

IDW Comic Releases – 12/11/08

Written by Big Bot on | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags:

Just one new release this week, with this being Transformers: Animated The Arrival #4, again featuring 2 stories set in the Animated universe.

BULKHEAD is up in arms (or is it servos?) over a gas-guzzling “megavan” created by corporate slimeball Porter C. Powell. Also, DECEPTICON bounty hunter LOCKDOWN searches for “the AUTOBOT who put MEGATRON offline” and stumbles into a surprising and dangerous encounter along the way.

The other Transformers comic this week is the 2nd printing of The Transformers: Megatron Origin TPB, which was originally released in December 2007, and is set early on in the IDW G1 universe.

Chris Ryall has posted the 3 covers for Arrival #4.

New E.J. Su Art – What is it?

Written by Big Bot on November 7, 2008 | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags: ,

Chris Ryall has posted some new art from longtime Transformers artist E.J. Su, a cover from a mysterious future issue.

The inks cover shows Jazz and Razorclaw battling it out with destroyed buildings around them. The only other clue to the issue is that it is coming out in March 09, which means it is unlikely to be an IDW main series, and more likely a Spotlight issue.
