Transformers Wins 4 VES Awards

After the disappointments of the BAFTA’s for Transformers, there was better news across the Atlantic, with the film winning four awards in the Visual Effects Society Awards.

Transformers won the main prize of outstanding visual effects in a visual effects-driven film and other prizes, including single visual effect of the year, for the highway sequence with Bonecrusher and Optimus Prime, models and miniatures, and compositing.

Collecting the top prize on bealf of ILM were Scott Farrar, Shari Hanson, Russell Earl and Scott Benza.

LaBeouf Wins BAFTA Rising Star Award

In tonights Orange BAFTA awards, Transformers movie star Shia LaBeouf has won the fan nominated Orange Rising Star award. He beat British favourite Seinna Miller to the prize.

Unfortunately, Transformers was surprisingly not nominated for the best special effects award, which means we will have to wait until the Academy Awards at the end of the month to see if the film earns an award.

UK Toy Fair 2008 Report

TF@TM have a report summarising the events of the British Toy Fair 08 from last week. There is news on the Transformers: Animated, Transformers movie, Transformers Universe and Marvel Transformers (basically Star Wars Transformers but with Marvel characters) lines from Hasbro UK.

The movie line will continue until Animated is brought in, with Universe starting soon after.

Of course, we have had promises from Hasbro UK before and have been disappointed but given the success of the Transformers movie line last year, it is looking good for 2008.

New images of Transformers Movie Premium Leader Class Megatron in package have appeared on ebay. The photos show the back of the packaging, which reveal his tech specs and profile, as well as all the gimmicks that go with the toy.

Allspark Battle Legend 2 packs in Tesco

Forum member Perceptor has spotted some of the Transformers movie Allspark Battle Legend 2 packs at his local Tesco store. Sighted were Nightwatch Prime vs Stealth Starscream (Wave 2) and Decepticon Brawl vs Rescue Ratchet (Wave 1) for £5.97 each.

He also picked up Deluxe class Landmine and Autobot Camshaft in Toys n Tuck, a local toystore. It’s not clear if these are imports or an actual UK release.

UPDATE: It turns out Landmine and Autobot Camshaft are both in UK packaging, so are part of an official UK release. The other wave 7 deluxe figure, Cliffjumper, has also been spotted.

Movie Legends In Single-Pack Releases

On auction site Taobao, some auctions have been posted for some new and unseen single-pack Transformers movie Legends figures, which have already been released in AllSpark Battles two-packs.

The two figures on display are Cliffjumper and Bonecrusher. They are in European packaging, which means there is a likely chance that they will be released in the contenent. There is no confirmation from Hasbro on when they will be released.

New Images of Premium-Series Leader Optimus Prime

A new auction on ebay has pictures of the upcoming Transformers movie Premium-Series Optimus Prime figure. The Leader Class figure has a new paint scheme, which seems to give the figure a more metallic and detailed look, a new arm-blade and a new head sculpt, which resembles the movie version a lot more than the original figure.

Amiami have put up some high resolution images of a prototype figure of Trans-Scanning Bumblebee. This Japanese exclusive Transformers movie figure can be seen in both robot and vehicle mode (Concept Camaro), as well as a protoform asteroid mode and protoform robot mode.

Titan Transformers UK #9 Preview

Titan Magazines have updated their Myspace blog with an exclusive preview of Transformers UK #9. There are 2 pages of pencil art from the comic and a full colour version of the cover, which is completely hand drawn.

Pencils for the issue are done by Simon Williams with the script by Simon Furman. Issue #9 is out on 28th February, exclusively in the UK.

More official images have been released by Hasbro, this time of Transformers movie Limited Edition Battle Damaged “Autobot Optimus Prime”.

The three images are in-package (North American version), in robot mode and in vehicle mode. This is the voyager version of Optimus Prime and is expected to be a store exclusive of some sort.
