88mph Studios – beware!

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on October 11, 2007 | News | Tags:

Some of you may be aware of the Canadian based company 88mph Studios, who have released a Transformers Art book entitled ‘Genesis The Art of Transformers‘ using artwork and posters from the Transformers world. They contacted TheTransformers.Net almost 2 years ago now to ask if we could provide them with a copy of the original Transformers The Movie UK theatrical poster. We sent them the Marvel TFTM fold out comic, which had the poster on the reverse, to use in their book on the agreement that they’d take good care of it and send it back.

Despite dozens of emails, and having been told repeatedly that they’d send it, we have received nothing. We emailed again on December 30th, one last time to find out if they intended returning our rare comic, only to be sent this reply

Subject Re GENERAL INQUIRY

Hello Darren,

Expect your package this week or the next depending on the holiday schedule
of FedEx.

Best

Sebastien

I guess this meant that all the previous times that we’d been told it would be sent were lies. And yet again, we have received nothing.

This comic was the very same item that we loaned to Maverick in the UK to use for the TFTM DVD release, which they promptly returned once they had used it. It’s a shame that we have now lost this comic when were only helping out companies who wanted to use the Transformers artwork for Hasbro licensed releases.

As a result of this we won’t be loaning any artwork to companies again, as we just can’t be assured that we’ll get it back. If anyone else is approached by 88mph Studios asking for help, we’d advise you turn them down as they unfortunately can’t be trusted.
