Early review is promising for Transformers Dark of the Moon

Written by Tom Potts on May 18, 2011 | Transformers: Dark of the Moon |

The first review from Transformers “Dark of the Moonhas hit the web and, as usual, it comes from the website Ain’t it Cool News.

The review is a promising start to the speculation that is constantly growing about the third film in the franchise as some fans were left feeling disappointed after “Revenge of the Fallen.” However fans may not need to be as worried about this third film as the reviewer is praising it as the best one yet (whether that means anything to you is up to you). Fans can look forward to a film that is darker, much better written and has more scope than the first two films; according to the review.

Michael Bay is commonly known to his fans as a director that uses non-stop explosive action and cheeky one liners. However; this third film has a much bigger emotional aspect to it something that the fans may not be completely expecting, or used to with traditional Bay films.

The review comments:

“I’m genuinely surprised what a strong effort this film is, not just in terms of its scope, but also in its pacing, performances, and ideas. This one dares to go dark from time to time, and that helped me find the often-lacking component of many Bay films: emotion. You probably won’t shed any tears watching DARK OF THE MOON, but you will care when certain lives are lost or are in peril.”

The review also sheds some light on the performance of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who has replaced Megan Fox in the film. According to the reviewer, Huntington-Whiteley (a lingerie model) is actually pretty good in Dark of the Moon, and is far better than previous Transformers eye candy, Megan Fox. The reviewer does add that Rosie’s performance is helped by the fact that she has a part, whereas Megan Fox just had to stand around and look good.

Fans can make their own minds up when the film hits the big screen in the both the UK and the US at the beginning of July.

Canada getting ready for blockbuster summer that includes Transformers

Written by Tom Potts on May 17, 2011 | Transformers: Dark of the Moon |

A Canadian film distributor has had some exciting news in the few weeks before the summer season blockbusters start.

Ciniplex and Imax have partnered up in a deal that will see the film giants acquire three new digital Imax systems and upgrade seven of its already existing Imax theatres to digital projection. The three new cinemas that are being built are expected to open in the autumn this year. The number of Imax theatres that Ciniplex own will go up to 12 after this development.

Ciniplex said that these latest cinema buys come ahead of the July releases of Transformers 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; just two of the main 3D films that are expected to take this summer’s box office by storm.

A statement that was released read as follows:

“Our IMAX theatres have always been very well received by our theatre guests,” said Ellis Jacob, President and CEO, Cineplex Entertainment. “We are pleased to extend the premium IMAX Experience® to new audiences in Southern Ontario and Winnipeg, and to upgrade seven of our existing IMAX projection systems to digital, bringing our total IMAX locations to 12.”

“We are happy to enter into this expanded deal with Cineplex, which has been a long-standing and successful exhibitor partner for IMAX in Canada,” said Richard L. Gelfond, CEO of IMAX Corporation. “We are particularly pleased that two of the new Cineplex IMAX locations will open in time to benefit from the exciting slate of summer blockbusters scheduled to be released in the IMAX format, such as the July releases of Transformers: Dark of the Moon: An IMAX® 3D Experience and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2: An IMAX® 3D Experience.”

$25,000 wager that Skin and Mudflap are not to be seen in Transformers Dark of the Moon

Written by Tom Potts on | Transformers: Dark of the Moon |

Director Michael Bay has hit back at the first review of the up and coming Transformers film “Dark of the Moon” that is due to be released in cinemas on July 1st.

In the first actual review of the film that was featured on the famous movie website “Aint it cool news” the writer Capone mentioned about “Street-smart robots here to entertain us.”

“Yes, they’re back too, but let’s just say they’re toned down,” wrote Capone.

However Michael Bay is strongly denying that the Transformer twins, Skin and Mudflap, are even in the final instalment of the franchise. Michael Bay posted on his website the following statement:

“After the Internet posting of a nice review by someone who saw “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” the writer had been clear on one thing. He misstated that the Twins are in the film. They are not”

“So I am offering a $25,000 REWARD to anyone who can find them performing in Transformers 3, on July 1, when the movie opens,” he added.

Capone also released a statement stressing that he was not referring to the twins in his article. He commented:

“Hey, everyone. Just to 100 percent clear, I’m not referring about the ‘The Twins’ here; they are most definitely not in this film,” wrote Capone in his edited review.

“I’m talking about Wheelie (Tom Kenny, who also voiced Skids in ‘Revenge of the Fallen’) and other similar smaller robots, who act like streetwise teenagers.”

Bay’s posting does not include any information on how to claim the prize should you actually spot the twins in the film.

Latest Transformers toy releases from Hasbro

Written by Tom Potts on | Hasbro,Toys |

Hasbro is keeping fans excited about the release of their latest Transformer toyline, which will go on general sale on the 16th May.

Hasbro has been updating regularly in anticipation of the launch and recently revealed the character Cyberverse Legion Crowbar. The Vector Sigma database, that also launched during the redesign, reveals Crowbar as part of the Dread team, along with Crankcase and Hatchet. Additional figures that are part of this update include fellow Legion class, renamed from Legend Leadfoot, Bolt Bumblebee, and Commander Blackout.

As well as the characters Hasbro has included a brief description about the toy characters and their strengths and abilities.

CROWBAR infiltrates and observes AUTOBOT tactical movements with unmatched stealth and intellect. He has been trained in the most brutal DECEPTICON attack strategies for the unlikely event he is discovered.

BUMBLEBEE charges into battle, engine roaring, and ready to turn DECEPTICONS into scrap. His dogged bravery is idolised by the AUTOBOTS and feared by his enemies.

LEADFOOT and his cohorts drive fast, have a thing for loud weapons and maintain a strong dislike for DECEPTICONS. But LEADFOOT is not all flash and show; while on CYBERTRON he was called a genius weapon designer!

These toys are going to be on wide release and will be available from most retailers such as ASDA, Amazon, Argos, Boots, Debenhams, Firebox.com, Hamleys, John Lewis, Play.com, Smyths, Tesco, The Entertainer, Toymaster, Toys R Us and WH Smiths.

Product selection, availability, and pricing may vary by retailer.
