Transformers “2” Greenlit

According to reports from Entertainment Tonight, the follow up to the Transformers movie, which we are all calling Transformers 2 (original, eh?), has been greenlit by Paramount and Dreamworks. Expect more specific news on this soon.

Transformer sequel to start production next year?

IESB.net have obtained some information from fan favourite Peter Cullen about the possible Transformers movie sequel. He has been told to leave his schedule open next year. No film has been confirmed but a solid box office performance will see he robots in disguise returning to the big screen.

Full details can be found here.

Sequels in Pipeline

It has already been reported that 2 Transformers sequels are being considered, but now Dreamworks have given “provisional go-ahead” for the 2 films. UK site DigitalSpy have reported that the 2 sequels are being approved by studio bosses at Dreamworks but it isn’t clear if these may be back to back or separate features.

This isn’t confirmation of any sequel but just more of a likelihood that the Transformers will continue.

DigitalSpy

It must be noted that DigitalSpy isn’t always entirely accurate, as they haven’t realise that recent rumours of Metal Gear Solid 4 appearing on Xbox 360 are fake.

Rumour TF 2, New Cartoon & More G1 Stuff

Comic Book Resources have posted a few rumours that sound interesting but have no substance behind them (yet). We are not confirming these, just tell you about them.

First, Transformers 2, the sequel to this years Transformers movie, will be out in 2009.

Second, a new cartoon is in the planning as a spin off to this years Movie.

And finally, the reason that the Movie characters are so different to their original G1 name sakes is that Hasbro wanted to capitalise on being able to release merchandise for both G1 and the Movie.
