Movie Sequel Comic Title Change

The Transformers movie sequel comic, originally called “The Search for Starscream”, has now been given a name change, most likely due to a story change based on the film sequel, coming in 2009. IDW Editor-in-chief has now confirmed that the comic is now called “The Reign of Starscream”.

The story is due to take place between the 2 movies, picking up where the first left off, with Starscream flying into space.

The cover for one for the issues was revealed earlier this month.

IDW’s Transformers Movie Sequel Comic Cover

The Lying In The Gutters column on Comic Book Resources has posted the cover to IDW’s Transformers movie Sequel Comic Book. This series takes place after the events of the Transformers movie and involves and certain Transformer called Starscream.

The cover features that Decepticon in a homage to Marvel’s classic Transformers issue #5 comic, which had Shockwave in a similar stance and the same words scratched into the wall.

No Delay For Transformers 2

Written by Big Bot on December 8, 2007 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

According to Transformers 2 director Michael Bay, there is no delay to the film and it will be release on 24th June 2009, or 26th July 2009 if you live in the UK or any country where they can rip you off.

Nelson has posted this on his forums:

BTW, Bay just indicated to me that Transformers is still on schedule. The movie is still in heavy prep and “will be released JUNE 24th 2009.”

Transformers 2 Still on Track?

Written by Big Bot on December 5, 2007 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

One of the Transformers 2 writing team, Roberto Orci, has posted an update on Don Murphy’s message board on the writers strike and how it may affect the release of Transformers 2.

As you know, all screenwriters are engaged in a labor dispute with the major studios and media conglomerates that subsidize much, but not all of the media content that we consume. It may go on for a very long time. All the other writers I’ve talked to on every level are ready to hold out FOREVER, all the while figuring out ways to make a living out of the internet without studios.

So now the hard part for me and Alex and Ehren and all fans of Transformers is that the movie may suffer (unless of course you hate the first one so much that you feel our inattention is a bonus). It may be pushed back or a host of other thing may happen to it. For that we apologize truly.

RUMOUR: Jazz back for Sequel?

Written by Big Bot on December 4, 2007 | Transformers movie (2007),Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Time for Michael Bay to try and have some fun. blackamericaweb.com have had a chat with Jazz voice actor Darius McCrary. In the article, it is mentioned that:

Last summer, McCrary starred as Autobot Jazz in the 4th of July blockbuster “Transformers” and is currently in talks to return for the sequel.

However, there is no quote from McCrary saying this and given the fact that Jazz died in the first film, it seems unlikely that he will be back. Add this to Michael Bay previously saying that he would put fake information out there, we’re putting this under false.

Michael Bay to Fans: “Prepare for Fake Out”

Written by Big Bot on November 10, 2007 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Michael Bay is a tricky customer, keeping information close to his chest on Transformers 2, as he did with the original. But now he wants to send fans around in circles by releasing lots of false details to confuse and irritate fans some more. In a chat with Rotten Tomatoes, he reveals his plan:

“One thing I do know is I know how to screw them up more,” said Bay. “We’re going to leak a lot of false information all over the place. I now know their game. They’re going to get a lot of script treatments that they think are going to be the script. They will never see the script. We’ve got scripts and treatments written up that we’re going to leak. No one’s going to know.”

He also goes on to say he is already winning:

“There’s one out that’s fake right now. There are going to be many others.”

However Mr Bay, this little statement could just mean something official has been leaked and you’re trying to cover you tracks.

Transformers 2 Plans to Starts Production in June 08

Written by Big Bot on | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Variety have written an article about how films will be affected by the recent writers strike, with some new information about Transformers 2. It is mentioned that pre-production will start soon, with location scouting and advance VFX work.

The main problem comes if the strike does not end within the next couple of months. With the first mention that full production is due to start in June 2008, the film will ultimately be delayed if nothing is resolved.

Transformers 2 Production Designer Announced

Written by Big Bot on November 7, 2007 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

The first production designer has been announced for Transformers 2. Nigel Phelps, who has worked for director Michael Bay before on Pearl Habour and The Island (not the best start), is also currently working on The Mummy 3.

The news was revealed on the United Talent Agency’s website.

Transformers 2 Almost Certainly Delayed

Written by Big Bot on November 3, 2007 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

With the impending writers strike, Hollywood is facing up to the fact that many films will have to be delayed. Unfortunately, Transformers 2 will also be affected, and will probably not make its 26th June 2009 release. Variety writes:

Not on the pre-strike list is “Transformers 2,” a sequel that is still being written. Labor talks will determine whether the visual effects-heavy film makes its projected June 26, 2009, release date.

Expect Paramount and Dreamworks to make an official announcement on the sequel in the next few months.

Written by Big Bot on October 9, 2007 | News,Transformers movie (2007),Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

The Transformers 2 train is starting and little bits of information is being released very slowly. Executive Producer Steven Spielberg has made comments on the set of Indy IV that the story for TF2 is going out within the next 30 days and LeBeouf is returning.

Production is expected to move quickly before the writers strike next year.
