IGN.com have put up the first screenshot from Activision’s Transformers The Game, based on the Transformers Movie. The screen is of Bumblebee and is from the “high end” consoles, meaning the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The screen can be seen here.
It seems good ol’ Optimus Prime (Arcee mudflaps an’ all) has made his way from the testing server over to The Rogue Isles a proper, in the online PC game City Of Villains, to aid nefarious curs in the buying and selling illegal goods (could it get any worse?). If you want to go rub yourself up against the shiny red turncoat yourself, simply head over to the island of St Martial and for the ‘Black Market’ on the map.Alternatively, click on the image below or here for a completely serious screenshot.
We managed to catch an interview with Callum Godfrey, producer of Transformers The Game with Activision.
What type of game is being developed?
Transformers The Game is a free roaming action adventure which draws upon racing, flying, combat, shooter and exploration elements. Its a game we cant really fit into any one category, as when you think about all the amazing things Transformers can do, it naturally leads you down paths that mean pushing the gameplay little bit further.

IGN have managed to get lots of details on the new Transformers Movie based game, simply titled Transformers The Game. The game will be appearing on the PC, PS2, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 and will have nearly the exact same content. Full details can be found here with an interview with Andy Burrows.
As has been previously announced, Activision will be releasing a game based on the Transformers movie for many next gen and portable gaming formats. The “Establishing the Buzz for Collaborative Franchises” panel at the Hollywood and Games Summit provided some information on a more exact release date for the game and Activision’s involvement with Digital Domain. Gamespot have written an article about the panel and here is the important bit:
Then it was onto more practical matters–namely, the problems that arise trying to develop a game based on a major motion picture. Kassoy offered an ongoing project as an example. The said Activision is actively sharing all assets of the upcoming Transformers film with Digital Domain, the production company Transformers director Michael Bay recently bought. Kassoy said Activision is shooting for a “day and date” release alongside the film on July 4, 2007.
We just received a press release from our Games Industry friends stating what we’ve all suspected, but were waiting to hear.
