Auto Assembly 2009 Questionnaire Deadline

Written by Big Bot on September 16, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: ,

Here’s the latest update from the guys over at Auto Assembly:

Hi everyone,

We’ve had a fantastic response to the paper and online surveys we’ve been running for Auto Assembly 2009 to help us make next year’s Auto Assembly convention the biggest and best Transformers convention EVER that Europe has ever seen, but if you haven’t already completed the survey, you’ve still got time! The closing date for the survey is the end of September 2008 and everyone who completes the survey and gives us their details will be entered into a FREE draw to win a family ticket to Auto Assembly 2009!!

Even if you didn’t attend Auto Assembly 2008 – or even if you’ve never attended an Auto Assembly event before – we still want to hear your views, and we’d love to hear from those of you who live outside of the UK who are considering attending in the 25th anniversary year next year. Don’t forget that EVERY vote counts in this survey!

We will be taking all of your responses into consideration in planning for next year, as well as all of the additional comments you may make and we’ve already had some wonderful ideas come forward and some VERY useful comments that we will be taking on board for next time so those of you who have already responded have started to shape Auto Assembly 2009!

You can find the survey here:-

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=DkIO_2b1E485TJD6KbOum8Mg_3d_3d

Once the survey closes, we’ll publish the results and produce a follow-up survey to go into more detail about the convention itself based on the decisions we reach and find out EXACTLY what you want from the convention!

Thanks in advance and we hope to see many of you there next year!

BBC Report of Auto Assembly 2008

Written by Big Bot on August 4, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: , ,

The BBC have updated their article first posted back in June with a review of Auto Assembly 2008 from last weekend.

Some interesting facts come out of the article, with news that the convention broke the European attendance record for a Transformers convention, with 423 people, compared to 409 in 2005. The other interesting fact is that it was estimated that over £30,000 was spent during the day.

A gallery was also posted of various parts of the convention, including TF@TM’s table. Unfortunately, our table wasn’t suitable for the BBC’s new guidlines. Specimen-17 did get in photo number 4 though.

Auto Assembly 08: Interview with Simon Furman

One lucky fan managed to get half an hour with comic writer Simon Furman at last weekends Auto Assembly 2008.

First Transformers: Animated The Game Video Footage

Written by Big Bot on August 3, 2008 | News,Video Games | Tags: , ,

At Auto Assembly 2008 yesterday, the first video footage of Activision’s new game, Transformers: Animated The Game, was shown to fans, with gameplay footage of both driving and platforming. Of course, there was plenty of transforming, with all Autobots shown in action.

Transformers: Animated The Game is out in October 2008 on the Nintendo DS.

Written by Big Bot on August 1, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: ,

Two years in the making, destined to be the largest European Transformers Convention ever and now with 13 guests, what could be better? Well, the fact that Hasbro UK are attending for the first time makes the convention seem perfect. Add to that the BBC filming the event for Midland Today and footage from the convention appearing on a future DVD.

Check back over the weekend for a full review and pictures from the event.

Auto Assembly 2008: Even More Guests!

Written by Big Bot on July 29, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: ,

Auto Assembly 2008 is happening this Saturday, and it seems that it will be the largest European Transformers Convention EVER! The deadline for pre-booking is tonight and to tempt you 2 more guests have been announced. John McCrea and Lee Bradley, who have both worked on Titan’s Transformers UK comic, with John soon to move onto the Animated version as well.

As a further bonus, the BBC will be filming at the convention.

W’re just FOUR days away from Auto Assembly 2008 and as we promised, we’ve got yet another couple of last minute announcements to make…

* TWO MORE GUESTS CONFIRMED! *

We have now confirmed two more guests for Auto Assembly 2008 bringing the total to THIRTEEN! We are now being joined by John McCrea and Lee Bradley. John and Lee have both been working on Titan’s Transformers comic for some time and John is going to be working on Titan’s upcoming Transformers: Animated title. They have both also been working extensively in the comic industry and will be making their Auto Assembly debut.

* PRE-BOOKING DEADLINE IS TONIGHT! *

Don’t forget, pre-bookings close TONIGHT so if you haven’t already registered, you’ve got to get your bookings in by 9:00 pm GMT so we can process them and get your booking confirmations out in the post to you tomorrow to ensure that they reach you before the convention.

* NEW EUROPEAN RECORD IMMINENT… *

Bookings have been flying in and we have almost hit the total figure that we had in 2006 and that means just a few more and we have set a NEW European record and we will do this easily from on the door bookings!

* BBC AT AUTO ASSEMBLY 2008 *

It is looking very likely that not only will Auto Assembly 2008 be filmed to be included as a bonus featurette on a DVD, but it now looks as if the BBC will be sending a camera crew to the convention for their Midlands Today programme so expect to see a couple of camera crews around during the day!
Well, we’re almost there but who knows what else might happen in the next 48 hours… See you all on Saturday!

Auto Assembly – AA 2008 Final Pre-Bookings Deadline‏

Written by Big Bot on July 25, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: ,

Only 8 days to go, so here are the final booking deadlines. With 380 people having already booked their tickets, you better hurry.

Hi everyone!

Well, Auto Assembly 2008 is almost upon us, so with just EIGHT days to go, it’s time for another important update on the latest developments and reminder about pre-registrations if you haven’t already…

* ANOTHER Goodie Bag Item! *

We’ve got yet another freebie for you but once again it’s limited! Past Auto Assembly guest and star of RiD Neil Kaplan has just released the first issue of his graphic novel “I, Of The Wolf” at the San Diego Comic Convention and Neil has provided us with 50 promotional stickers! As with the Activision, Titan Comics and Liberation Entertainment goodies, these will be distributed at random to pre-registrants through a lucky draw but instead of a redemption voucher, the winners will find the stickers in their welcome packs.

* Pre-Registration Deadline! *

The deadline for bookings outside of the UK is now CLOSED. While we would love to be able to take bookings, to be honest we can’t guarantee to be able to get your confirmation packs out to you in the post and have them reach you in time before you fly out to the UK so if any of you did go on to the website and pre-registered it would be at your own risk. However, we will have places on the door so if you arrive bright and early you shouldn’t have any problems getting in and we WILL let EVERY overseas on the door attendee in.

For those of you pre-booking from the UK, the cut off point will be 9:00 pm on Tuesday 29th July and after that point the online bookings will be removed from the website. This will give us enough time to post your confirmation packs out to you by first class post on Wednesday morning and they should still reach you by Thursday or Friday morning at the latest. Please note that if you are posting your booking then they MUST reach us by Tuesday to be processed.

We expect to have in the region of 100 on the door places available so for those of you who are considering coming along you should be able to get in still!

* A New European Record? *

In 2006 we had 400 attendees and in 2005 we set the European record with 409. As we have said before, we want to set a NEW European record this year and we’re almost there with 380 pre-registrants at the time of writing this! If you are planning on coming along, why not pre-register NOW and let’s see if we can break the record from pre-bookings alone!

Well, we’re almost there but who knows, we may have even MORE announcements to make in the next couple of days… well, we ARE working on a few things!! Until next time…

Hasbro Display At Auto Assembly 2008!

Written by Big Bot on July 23, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: , ,

It may have taken 7 years, but Hasbro UK will finally be attending an Auto Assembly convention in some form. In the following announcement, Hasbro will have a special display, but you’ll have to attend to find out.

Also attending the convention is the 11th guest, Martin Griffiths, who worked for Marvel on a couple of the G1 and G2 comics.

Get your tickets booked by clicking the banner in the top right corner.

Back again for another Auto Assembly update but this one is a biggie! With only 10 days to go until what is shaping up to be the biggest ever Transformers convention in Europe, you’d think we’d finished with the major announcements but oh no! Read on and find out more…

Hasbro Makes Their Auto Assembly Debut!

Well, it’s been seven years in the making but we are pleased to announce that – for the first time ever – there will be a rather special display from Hasbro at Auto Assembly 2008… We’re not saying what it is yet, you’ll just have to come along for yourself and find out but we think you’ll be pretty impressed!

Auto Assembly Guest Number 11!

Yes, you read it right, we have just confirmed our ELEVENTH guest!! We are now going to be joined by artist Martin Griffiths. Martin worked in a limited capacity on the original Marvel G1 comic, illustrating one of the Christmas stories and providing cover art for some of the comics, before moving on to illustrate the UK G2 comic. This will be Martin’s first appearance at Auto Assembly so we hope you’ll make him feel welcome.

Do we have any more surprises up our sleeves…? Only time will tell!! See you all on 2nd August!

Keeping Simon All For Ourselves

With the San Deigo Comic-Con starting today, many fans will be disappointed that Simon Furman will not be at the convention to represent IDW Publishing.  He will though be at Auto Assembly 2008, the UK’s only dedicated Transformers convention for 2008!

At the convention, he will be bringing his usual swag; trade paperbacks, books, scripts and script/comic packs to sell and sign for all keen fans. He’ll also be taking part in the comic Q & A panel, where he will hopefully divulge some juicy information on IDW’s and Titan’s future Transformers comic plans.

AA 2008 is on Saturday 2nd August, but you only have until the end of this weekend to pre-register.

Auto Assembly 2008 Update – 21st July 2008

Written by Big Bot on July 22, 2008 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags:

Not long before Auto Assembly 2008, so get booking, especially since pre-registrants get fast track entry into the convention and entered into a prize draw!

Hi everyone,

We’re just TWELVE DAYS away from Auto Assembly 2008, and we’ve got some great news for all of you planning on coming along to join us Birmingham and for those of you who have already booked up…

* Fast-Track Entry Confirmed! *

We’ve mentioned this once or twice, but we’ve now been able to confirm that we will be running a fast track admission system for pre-registrants who have arrived in Birmingham on Friday. If you are able to come along to the Clarendon Suites on FRIDAY evening between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm and bring your confirmation slips with you, you will be able to collection your passes and registration packs instead of having to queue on Saturday!

What this means is that once the doors open to pre-registrants on Saturday morning is that instead of having to queue and check in, simply show your pass on the door and you can walk straight in at 10:30 am! Please note that when you collect your pass on Friday, you will not be able to spend time in the hall other than to get your passes unless you are a registered dealer, staff member or volunteer.

Naturally, this is for PRE-REGISTRANTS ONLY so if you haven’t booked up yet and want to avoid the queues on the day, here’s your chance!!

* Pre-Registration Prize Draw *

As you may be aware, we are running no less that FOUR prize draws for pre-registrants this year. There is our main prize draw with a selection of prizes for a winner and runner up (including tickets to Auto Assembly 2009!), and our latest draws to win Hulk DVDs, Transformers games and goodies from Activision and Transformers comics from Titan. All of these will be awarded randomly to winning attendees through vouchers that you’ll find in your packs on the day BUT they are limited to PRE-REGISTRANTS only!

With 200 DVDs up for grabs, and 50 comics, over 30 games donated from Activison (with some appearing in our Charity Raffle) and lots more besides, there are an astonishing 276 chances to win!! Please note that ALL prizes MUST be claimed by the end of the day!

* On-The-Door Places Available *

With less than two weeks remaining to the convention, we are now in a position to confirm that there WILL be on-the-door places available for those of you who haven’t booked and are still undecided. However, don’t forget that pre-registrants DO get into the convention earlier and on-the-door attendees don’t get entered into the prize draws so there’s still time to pre-register this week!!

Well, we haven’t finished there! We’re still working on a few more surprises and announcements over the next few days so keep your eyes peeled! See you all on 2nd August!
