Plans for Transformers 3 Already Underway

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may have only just been released, but Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks SKG are already planning on Transformers 3 for Friday, 1st July 2011.

Back in March, director Michael Bay mentioned he would only do Transformers 3 if it was release a year later in 2012, which ultimately brings the key question, do Paramount wait at extra year to keep Bay or rush out a sequel?

Associated Content have discussed this point, and it seems we will be waiting 3 years, around the London 2012 Olympics, for more bot action. Despite Bay being back, the extra year should give the writers more time to flesh out a story that is more coherent.

Bay not Happy with Marketing Efforts for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Gossip site TMZ have managed to get hold of some emails sent by Michael Bay to the big-wigs at Paramount Pictures, complaining about the marketing campaign they have prepared. In the first, sent in May he criticizes the presence of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in the public eye as not being there, especially compare to the first film, “You talk so glowingly about Transformers being the movie of the summer, but unfortunately this has not got to the public”.

Bay also points out that there was a 30-minute feature at the MTV Movie Awards, but only a minimal presence this year.

In his second e-mail on 6 June, Bay compared Paramount to a family and thanked executives for “busting your butts and bringing your ‘A Game’ for the release of Transformers.” It seems the explosive one isn’t happy.

LA Revenge of the Fallen Press Conference with Bay & Co

ComingSoon.net has a transcript of the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen press conference held in Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.

In attendance at the event were Michael Bay, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Megan Fox and Ramon Ridriguez. As usual, they talked about the military involvement, the Twins , staying in shape, the theme of the movie, the inclusion of President Obama in the film, Shia’s hand injury and how they worked around it, and various other discussion points.

Also mentioned was that the DVD will be a far more expanded affair with “Ridley Scott’s DVD guy” doing it. I’m guessing this is Charles de Lauzirika, who is responsible for the brilliant Alien Quadrilogy, Gladiator Extended Edition, Kingdom of Heaven and Blade Runner DVD sets! They will also be following The Dark Knight and having the IMAX stuff included in the film.

Elizabeth Snead have taken some videos of the panel, so if you can’t be bothered to read, you can watch instead.

Bay NOT Quitting Transformers

Written by Big Bot on June 19, 2009 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags: ,

It seems the explosive one has been misquoted and is not quitting the Transformers franchise, but rather taking a break before Transformers 3 hits in 2012.

Hah,

Love press how they spin. Never said it – just wanted a vacation is more to the point. And no I don’t read the good or the bad reviews.

Bay Leaves Transformers?

In a surprise move, it seems Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay has decided to leave the franchise and not do a third movie.

It does seem weird that Michael would quit only months after saying he would simply be taking a break before doing Transformers 3 in 2012. It’s also interesting that he mentions it a day before the first public opening in the UK.

The most shocking thing about his interview with wenn.com (via IMDB) is that he will be doing something different: “I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions.” He also goes on to comment on reviewers, “It’s easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers. They (the critics) review me before they’ve even seen the movie.” Don’t worry Michael, we liked it.

So fans, think back to 2006 and start deciding who you would love to direct the next installment of Transformers.

Imax Version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to have Extended Cut

In Michael Bay’s latest forum post, he mentions that he has just about finished the film, with work continuing around the clock. He also mentions that the Imax version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be longer than the regular cinema cut.

Now unlike the first film, which was released in similar fashion, these extra scenes will not consist of bring human talking/being annoying, but will feature robot action in the four specially film Imax scenes. Just what we wanted to hear!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is out in the UK on 19th June, before everyone else!

Bay on Budgets, Efficiency, Waste and Deadlines (Not Politics Related)

Written by Big Bot on May 25, 2009 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags:

The LA Times have another article about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, this time focusing on Michael Bay himself.  He’s currently still working on the film, with the picture not even finished yet, “This one is going to barely make it to theaters.  You have no idea how complicated my life is.” He may be right, given that the film is meant to be shown at the UK  premiere on15th June (that’s 20 days away), and the BBFC still haven’t rated the film yet.

He also makes reference to the films budget, which clocks in at $200 million, comparing it to other more expensive films, and that the film industry is full of waste and needs to become more efficient, like himself.  Finally, the article confirms that Tom Kenny, the voice of Transformers: Animated Starscream, is part of the vocal cast for the sequel.
