Hasbro announces new Transformers cartoon

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on April 30, 2009 | Cartoon,Hasbro,News |

Hasbro Inc just announced a collaboration with Discovery Communications Inc that will lead to a new Transformers cartoon in 2010. The two companies are launching a joint venture which includes a new TV channel and accompanying website that will feature programmes based on the many different Hasbro brands, including of course Transformers.

The new network is currently operating under the name Discovery Kids, and will continue to do so until later next year when it will be rebranded. Then it will feature the new programming based on the Hasbro brands, such as G.I. Joe and Transformers. They’re aiming the programming at children aged 14 or below.

Hasbro is using the new venture to increase its reach to new audiences. Hasbro already has two movies out this summer based on its properties, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

Hasbro is set to pay $300 million, which will give it half of the venture.

We’ll let you know more about the new Transformers cartoon when we hear it.

Hasbro’s profits fall, despite Transformers

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on April 21, 2009 | Hasbro,Toys / Action Figures,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Hasbro announced that its Q1 profits had dropped by 47%, which is a massive decline and probably as a result of the global recession. However Hasbro did say that its movie related products (including toys for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen) would boost its profits in the next quarter.

Brian Goldner, the Chief Executive of Hasbro, stated:

We don’t believe these results are a reflection of the underlying strength of our brands.

Incredibly, current sales of Transformers have dipped, along with other Marvel toy lines. Star Wars and board games have been continuing to sell well though.

The problem here is we’re clearly not buying enough Transformers!

Sales should improve for Hasbro when the movies ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ and of course ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ all open later this year.

Transformers: Animated Two Packs News and Bios

Written by Big Bot on | Hasbro,News,Toys | Tags: , ,

Site Sponsor Kapow Toys has posted the profiles for the Transformers Animated 2-packs – Optimus Prime and Blackarachnia and Megatron and Prowl. he has also revealed that the packs will be Wal*Mart exclusives in the USA.

The Revenge of Blackarachnia
Long ago Optimus Prime was forced to abandon Blackarachnia in the caverns beneath the surface of an alien world. There she found herself surrounded by a terrifying horde of bizarre spiders and she was forced to reformat herself based on the strange organism to survive. The experience twisted her and drove her away from the autobots and left her with an undying desire for revenge on the former ally who left her to her fate. She has come to earth in search of Optimus Prime and she will not stop until she has destroyed him and everything he holds dear.

Battle In Space
In Space over a strange alien world Megatron carves his way through the hull of the autobot spaceship with his fusion cannon. Inside Prowl and his fellow autobots wait, knowing there is very little chance of defeating the Decepticon leader in a fight. Prowl knows his only chance is through stealth and skill. When it comes time to meet the mighty Megatron in combat he relies on his holographic projectors and speed to avoid being hit whilst tagging his opponent with every combat technique he knows. Unfortunately even his most powerful attacks bounce off the invincible armour of the Decepticon tyrant.

Animated Wave 4.5 NOT Cancelled, Just Delayed

Written by Big Bot on October 7, 2008 | Animated,Hasbro,News,Toys | Tags: , ,

After all the worrying and Hasbro UK hate resurfacing it seems we UK fans need to take a step back (again). it seems hasbro UK haven’t been very clear with their output. Wave 4.5 of Transformers: Animated, consisting of 2x Swoop, 2x Sentinal Prime, 1x Jazz, 2x Elite Guard Bumblebee, 1x Prowl, has NOT been cancelled but will probably turn up nearer to Christmas. The reasoning behind this is likely that due to wave 4 already containing Swoop and Sentinal Prime and jazz and Prowl alreading being out, there is a need to try and avoiding flooding the stores with the same figures.

Wave 4 (Wave 4 (834621483) – 4x Swoop, 4x Sentinal Prime) should be hitting the UK later this month.

New Look Transformers.com

Written by Big Bot on September 10, 2008 | Hasbro,News | Tags:

Hasbro have given their official Transformers website a much needed update, but only for the US version of the site. It has a much clearer (and brighter) look, with focus given to the Movie, Animated, and Universe lines.

Unfortunately, the site still contains the redirect script for anyone outside North America.

Hasbro Achieve “higher-than-expected” Quarterly Profits

Written by Big Bot on July 22, 2008 | Hasbro,News | Tags: ,

Thanks to our favourite brand, Hasbro have experienced higher-than-expected second-quarterly profits of $37.5 million (£18.8 million) up from $4.8million a year ago with sales of products having risen 13 percent to $784.3 million. This was mainly down to film tie-ins with Transformers and Indiana Jones.

The especially good news is that outside North America, sales are up 15 per cent to $293.7 million, showing that there are fans outside Hasbro’s home continent. It also probably had something to do with the weak US dollar.
