Plans for Transformers 3 Already Underway

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may have only just been released, but Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks SKG are already planning on Transformers 3 for Friday, 1st July 2011.

Back in March, director Michael Bay mentioned he would only do Transformers 3 if it was release a year later in 2012, which ultimately brings the key question, do Paramount wait at extra year to keep Bay or rush out a sequel?

Associated Content have discussed this point, and it seems we will be waiting 3 years, around the London 2012 Olympics, for more bot action. Despite Bay being back, the extra year should give the writers more time to flesh out a story that is more coherent.

Revenge of the Fallen passes £20 million in the UK

Written by Big Bot on July 10, 2009 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags: ,

The latest confirmed box office receipts are in and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has now made £20,785,050 in the UK up to 5th July.

The first film ended making around £25 million by the end of its run in 2007, so expect Revenge of the Fallen to pass this very soon. However, due to differing exchange rates (credit crunch), it probably won’t pass the $50 million equivalent from 2 years ago.

Preregister for Auto Assembly 2009 to get Third Voice Actor

Written by Big Bot on July 8, 2009 | Comics,News | Tags: ,

The guys at Auto Assembly 2009 are putting in a lot of effort to make Auto Assembly 2009 the best ever, and to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Transformers in style. Here is a video promoting the need for more preregistrations to get Neil Kaplan, the voice of RID Optimus Prime and AA 2005 guest of honour, and a message from Simon Plumbe.

Win A Personalised Voice Recording From Optimus Prime With Auto Assembly!

If you don’t already know, Auto Assembly is in talks to bring Neil Kaplan, the voice of Optimus Prime in Robots In Disguise back to the UK for it’s convention this year taking place over the weekend of 15th – 16th August 2009. Neil recently made his return to Transformers to voice characters in Activision’s game based on Revenge Of The Fallen, and we are hoping that he will be able to make his welcome return to Auto Assembly as well, following his appearance in 2005 as our guest of honour…

Neil’s appearance at Auto Assembly is confirmed subject to the convention receiving sufficient pre-registrations or sales of the non-attendee package to cover Neil’s costs. While this figure has not yet been reached, we are confident that – with the support of Transformers fans everywhere – Auto Assembly 2009 can become the first European Transformers convention to play host to THREE voice actors, seeing Neil join Gregg Berger and Ian James Corlett.

As part of Neil’s provisional appearance, he will be performing on stage in our script session on the Saturday evening alongside Gregg and Ian in a script written by Transformers legend Simon Furman, as well as taking part in a Q&A Panel at some point during the weekend and being on hand to sign autographs all weekend. For those of you unable to attend and who take up the non-attendee package, Neil’s autograph will be in your package should he attend.

To tie-in with his return to Auto Assembly, Neil has graciously offered to provide a personalised voice recording for one lucky convention attendee should he attend this year. This can be anything at all that you want, and you can use it as a mobile phone ring tone, on your website etc. – as long as it is for non-commercial use. To stand a chance of winning this fantastic prize, all you need to do is pre-register for the convention as a WEEKEND attendee or purchase a non-attendee package and you will be entered into the draw which will take place on the weekend.

To purchase your tickets or non-attendee package and have a chance of winning, visit the Auto Asembly website NOW! If you have already registered then you will be automatically entered into the draw! If you have only booked a single day ticket and would like to upgrade to a full weekend pass, watch this space for details soon on how you can do this… Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of what is going to be a great weekend celebrating 25 years of the Transformers!!

Transformers 2 Reigns Supreme over 4th July Weekend

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen beat the deep freeze Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs over the US Independence Day weekend with a $42.4 million total compared to $41.6 million for a very narrow victory.

The weekend box office receipts brought the domestic total to $293,355,885 according to BoxOfficeMojo in just 12 days. The first film took about a month to reach this number, and is now less than $30 million ahead of the all conquering sequel.

The total worldwide box office now stands at $591,355,885, just $115 million from Transformers final total. This figure is also misleading as the international territories don’t include the weekend gross, only count up to 1st July.

Cover art can be found on Chris Ryall’s blog.

Transformers 2 DVD/Blu-ray to be release on 24th October in France?

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray Cover FranceThe French part of Blu-ray.com is listing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (or The Revenge as in is called in France) to be released on Blu-ray on 24th October. Amazon.fr also have the same details on their site, which could lead this be quite accurate information. If true, the rest of the world should receive DVD/Blu-ray releases around the same time.

Please note that nothing has been confirmed by Paramount Home Entertainment and that Blu-ray.com is not the official site of the Blu-ray Disc Association.

Week 2: Domestic Box Office Report

It appears to been another good week for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, with confirmed figures for Monday to Friday and estimates for the Weekend, even though Sunday has barely begun.

This week has seen competition form Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Public Enemies, which cater to very different audiences. The numbers are also expected to be a lot lower due to the 4th July celebrations yesterday, with things picking up next week.

On Friday, Revenge of the Fallen passed Pixar’s Up as the top grossing movie of the year in the US by taking in an estimated domestic total of $268.7 million beating Up’s gross of $261.0 million. Up is yet to be released outside North America.

Ice Age 3 was released on Wednesday, and in the 4 days so far, has made an estimated $43million, compared to Transformers 2, which made just over $40million. Weekend predictions have both films grossing about the same amount.

Check back tomorrow for confirmation on these numbers.

Complete Ark and AllSpark Almanac Finished!

Written by Big Bot on July 1, 2009 | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags:

Jim Sorenson has finally finished his latest books, The Complete Transformers Ark and Transformers: Animated The AllSpark Almanac. The two books will be coming this August from IDW Publishing.

The Complete Ark is a combination of both The Ark and The Art II, but with the added bonus of extra artwork, like the Godmasters section should now feel more complete, and there are extra pages, featuring the Decepticon’s underwater headquarters.

The AllSpark Almanac is the ultimate guide into the world Transformers: Animated, with contributions for the creative temas, including Derrick Wyatt, Marty Isenberg, Hasbro, Takara and Titan Magazines. The entire book is written from an in-universe perspective, which should be interesting.

Transformers: Art of the Movies Still On Its Way?

With all the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen news, you may have over looked the fact that one piece of merchandise has disappeared off the radar. Transformers: The Art of the Movies, from Simon Furman, was due to feature lots of nice pieces of art from the 2 movies, but has not been seen since it’s original release date was 19th June, but it’s almost 2 weeks later with no news from the publisher Titan Books.

The live action “Transformers” movie finally hit the big screen in 2007, and proved to be well worth the wait: a critical and commercial smash hit, it grossed over $700 million worldwide, and amazed audiences with its jaw-dropping special effects. June 2009 sees the release of an even bigger sequel: “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. But how did Director Michael Bay and his team pull it off, and make audiences believe these giant alien robots were real? Beginning with a concise history of “Transformers”, from toy to movie franchise, the book looks in depth at the making of both movies, with exclusive interviews and over 200 stunning images. Packed with previously unpublished concept and design art, this is a must for all fans!

Simon Furman has responded to a question on his blog stating that it is awaiting approval. We assume most likely at the hands of Hasbro.
