Transformers 2: 10 against 10

Written by Big Bot on June 3, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags:

Transformers 2 writer Roberto Orci has posted on the Don Murphy’s message board that there is the possibility of there being ten robots on both the Autobots and Decepticons sides. He also mentions that some of the Transformers won’t be at the forefront and will only play a supporting role.

Hopefully, with all the characters, we can expect to see some discussion between these groups of bots, and with not all of them being key to the story, some good characterisation can be made.

Is Jazz returning for Transformers 2?

Written by Big Bot on May 31, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags: , ,

TFW2005 are reporting that they have received information that a Pontiac Solstice was spotted on the Bethlehem set for Transformers 2. The Solstice is the model used for Autobot Jazz, who, as you probably know, was killed by Megatron in the first movie. They have also apparently received confirmation that Darius McCrary, the voice of Jazz, is present on the set.

Now, a couple of keep points make this report seems unlikely, but still possible:

1. Michael Bay clearly said he will be putting out false information to keep the real information underwraps. 2. He also said on his message board on 4th January “No Jazz is dead. We have way more cool robots to come.”
3. Why would Paramount/Dreamworks be paying for a voice actor to be on set, when they normally hire a cheaper actor to provide all the lines for all the the robots to help the human characters. This method was used on the first film, so there would seem little reason to change.
4. They are currently no pictures of the Pontiac Solstice on the set and that the “confirmation” of Darius McCrary being there as well was by an unnamed “second tipster”.

When filming starts on 2nd June, we should have some more confirmation either way, so stay tuned.

More Bethlehem Set Photos

TFW2005.com have received some photos of the Transformers 2 set in Bethlehem, showing preparations are still be made for the start of filming on Monday 2nd June.

The photos show the site a bit more developed than before, but also show a Chevy Malibu painted as a Chinese police car. It isn’t known if this is just part of the scenery, or an actual robot.

Who’s returning for Transformers 2?

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that many of the main cast members from the first film will be returning for the sequel, with some good and some bad.

Shia LaBeouf is a given, as well as Megan Fox, to return and Tyrese Gibson had already been mentioned, as had Isabel Lucas and Rainn Wilson, but also coming back for a second go are , Josh Duhamel and John Turturro. It isn’t clear how Turturro will fit in, as Sector Seven was terminated at the end of the first film.

Ironhide Sighted, Can-Am Spyder & Motorcycle in Transformers 2?

Written by Big Bot on May 28, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags:

King Darkness of the Sideshow Freaks message boards has posted photos of Ironhide, the GMC Topkick and two unseen vehicles, a 3 wheel motorcycle and a Can-Am Spyder.

The photos were taken at a state checkpoint, on their way to Philadelphia. Due to Michael Bay’s tricks, we don’t know if the motorcycle and Cam-Am Spyder are decoy vehicles or actual Transformers.

Be sure to check back on Tuesday, when shooting starts and Optimus Prime makes his way.

Rainn Wilson in Transformers 2

Written by Big Bot on | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags:

In an interview with MTV, Rainn Wilson, who stars in the American version of The Office, confirmed that he is to join the cast of Transformers 2.

It isn’t clear who he will be playing, but our best guess is that it is either a human or a robot.

First Chinese set photos

Written by Big Bot on May 27, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Some new photos of the fictional Chinese city that will feature in Transformers 2 have been uploaded onto the internet, as well as some details of what will be filmed.

– The east side of the site is being re-developed so most of the shooting will take place on the west side.
– A new concept car (possible Transformer?) not used in the first movie will be used there
– Two Blackhawk helicopters will be used
– The area will be patrolled by the site security and Bethlehem City Police who will also and close streets for the shoot.

We suggest you head over before Paramount’s lawyers decide to panic like the first film.

Glenn Morshowe returning for Transformers 2?

Written by Big Bot on May 24, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

According to a news report on Fangoria.com, Glenn Morshowe, who played Colonel Sharp in the first film, is returning for the sequel. Of course, the major problem here is that he died during the opening scene with Blackout. The comment was made by James LaMarr, a Walking Distance executive producer, so the reliability of this statement isn’t 100%.

Bay comments on Nizzi Transformer designs

Written by Big Bot on | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Michael Bay may be a busy man, but he does make time to provide a few words for fans. On his forums, he has provided a short comment on one of the designs by Josh Nizzi, who is working on the designs for Transformers 2.

Cool, maybe for Transformers 3.

Yes, short and sweet from Michael, but does he mean Constructicons for Transformers 3, Josh Nizzi doing design for TF3, or will this particular design be in TF3?

Orci on Transformers 2

Written by Big Bot on May 17, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

Transformers 2 writer Robert Orci recent spoke with IGN, and has revealed some interesting character information for the sequel.

It seems that Soundwave will finally make the big screen, as will his minion Ravage. Oh, and he talks a bit about Star Trek as well.

Q: What’s the status of Transformers 2?

ORCI: That starts shooting in three weeks.

Q: What do you want to do that builds from the first one?

ORCI: We want to follow some of our lead characters which we thought were so successful. Shia’s character; where is he two years later? His girlfriend, where is she two years later? But for fans, I guess I’ll address this more for the fans, because I think if you didn’t know Transformers at all and you came in and you liked the first movie, you’ll like the second one. However, some of the die hard fans, which we were a member of that group, felt, well, maybe it’s a little light. Maybe it wasn’t science fictiony enough. And I think the second one will deliver on a true Transformers story. You know, the first one, we had a limited budget for what it was. Every second of Transformer time is a million dollars or whatever the heck it is, so this time, because we were able to prove through the whole thing that it’s a viable live-action movie, we have a little more freedom this time to actually learn about the Transformers, see them, hear them. It’s a better balance between the humans and the Transformers.

Q: Is there one particular Transformer, good or bad, that you absolutely had to get into the sequel?

ORCI: Yes.

Q: You’re not gonna tell us.

ORCI: I’ll tell you. We had to get Soundwave in there.

Q: Nice. Where Soundwave goes, will Ravage follow?

ORCI: Perhaps! Who’s Ravage? … I’m kidding! You know, we had Ravage in an early draft of the first movie and Soundwave, and we couldn’t do it right and I think this time hopefully we’ll have the ability to do it.
