Roberto Orci Confirms Some New Characters for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

IGN managed to get a quick work with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen writer Roberto Orci at the Television Critics Association press tour, where he confirmed one character by name and another by the type of Transformer. SPOILERS FOLLOW

A picture had previously been seen of him, but it’s now pretty much confirmed that Ravage will be appearing in the sequel, but also a Pretender, which for anyone not in the know, is a bot inside an outer shell disguise, most likely a human.

More Questions Answered by Orci

Roberto Orci has provided some more updates on Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

The film length is probably going to be longer than the first, which ran for 2 hours 17 minutes in cinemas. The recent footage shown at the wrap party was only selected footage, and not a trailer, with no robots featuring at all.

No Triple Changers for Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen

In a Q&A at TFW2005, Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen writer Roberto Orci has provided some more answers, this time confirming that there will be no triple changers (ala Blitzwing) but there will be combiners:

Talked about it. Does a combiner count? We figure a triple changer is a good idea for part 3.

Also answered was the likelihood that Megatron and Starscream will be up to their old ways again, withbickering left right and center and that it has been discussed (no confirmation) in the writters room about the possiblity of Optimus Prime combining with another robot or even his trailer.

And for anyone wondering what Soundwave will trasnform into, nonbody has guessed it yet.

Revenge of the Fallen Writers Talk about Inspirations for Sequel

In an interview with Sci-Fi Wire, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have spoken about what influenced the writing for the sequel and what could be done to raise the emotional stakes, including looking back on how the best film sequel achieve this goal; Superman II, The Empire Strikes Back and Aliens.

We all hope the film can reach the same heights as these films.

Transformers 2 Trailer Arriving Next Year

Written by Big Bot on September 13, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags: , ,

Aintitcool.com are reporting that the theatrical trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be airing before the new Star Trek film next year. Star Trek will be opening on 8th May 2009, just a month before Revenge of the Fallen does.

Writer Robert Orci also mentioned that the teaser trailer will be arriving much sooner, sometime this year.

The ‘Theme’ of Revenge of the Fallen and Character Update

MTV Movies Blog have interviewed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and have managed to get some information out of them.

The theme of the sequel will be about being away from home. Orci mentioned that: “It’s about being away from home. It’s a few years later and Sam is going to finally go to college and he’s going to face being away from home just as the autobots are having to deal with being away from Cybertron.”

The bad news for you Dinobot loves is that they will not be showing up. It was felt there was no logical reason for Transformers to be disguised as dinosaurs: “We couldn’t quite figure out how to justify a robot that would pretend to be a dinosaur,”

Roberto Orci Discusses Bots in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen writter Roberto Orci has recently been interviewed by Sci Fi Wire, who have tried to get bits and pieces out of him.

Orci doges the question about Arcee being in the sequel but confirms that Soundwave will be appearing, but did not spill any details on what his transformation would be. He also declined comment on whether Cybertron would be featured.

Transforming Weapons in Transformers 2?

Written by Big Bot on June 17, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags: ,

Transformers 2 writer Roberto Orci has answered a question on Don Murphy’s board, in the “Hey Roberto” thread, mentioning a new feature in the sequel:

Roberto, will there be Transformers that transform into Weapons in TF2?
yes!

As some of you may have noticed, the Transformers 2: The Ultimate Battle game description mentioned a new transformation system, including weapons. If this turns out to be true, and not a complete bluff, it will add something different. It could be that the bot that turns into a weapon is part of the larger robot, like Scorponok in the first film.

Transformers 2: 10 against 10

Written by Big Bot on June 3, 2008 | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen | Tags:

Transformers 2 writer Roberto Orci has posted on the Don Murphy’s message board that there is the possibility of there being ten robots on both the Autobots and Decepticons sides. He also mentions that some of the Transformers won’t be at the forefront and will only play a supporting role.

Hopefully, with all the characters, we can expect to see some discussion between these groups of bots, and with not all of them being key to the story, some good characterisation can be made.
