Written by Big Bot on June 15, 2009 | Auto Assembly,Conventions,News | Tags: , ,

Just like last year, Auto Assembly, Europe’s largest Transformers convention, has again been previewed by an article on the BBC website.

The article contains an interview with Simon Plumbe and lots of details for anyone who hasn’t heard about the convention but is interested in attending. Here’s the best quote:

“If you’ve never been to a convention before but you’re passionate about Transformers and want to meet like-minded fans, meet the stars of the series, and just want to enjoy a packed weekend of Transformers-themed activities, then maybe Auto Assembly 2009 is for you!”

This years convention is a 2 day event over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August 2009 in Birmingham.

Kris Carter Blogs on his work for All Hail Megatron #15

Written by Big Bot on June 14, 2009 | Comics,IDW Publishing,News | Tags: ,

Colourist Kris Carter (excellent name) has posted an update on his blog (finally) about his latest work. As well as his Doctor Who work for IDW, he also mentions his latest Transformers work, which was for The Transformers: All Hail Megatron #15. More specifically, he has been colouring Nick Roche’s Kup follow-up story, which bridges the gap between Spotlight Kup and All Hail Megatron.

What impressed me most is just how well it works, I was just grinning ear to ear by the end of it – and although it’s both a sequel and a prequel, it’s not short on character… and lovers and haters of Prowl are in for an absolute treat either way. I can’t wait to see THIS sucker in print! I’ll try and see if I can post up some preview colours closer to publication.

Yes Kris, please try and get some previews up, waiting for September is a long time.

The first Revenge of the Fallen Reviews are in

IGN UK and Total Film (a UK film magazine) have both posted their reviews of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Both reviews are relatively spoiler free, and don’t revealed anything outside of what was shown in the trailers, but you have been WARNED!

IGN UK gave the film 3/5 on their star rating, praising the films action sequences and that the editing has made following which bot is which a lot easier when compared to the first film. They mainly felt that certain set pieces went on for too long, with the film needing to be closer to the 2 hour mark.

Total Film have given the film 4/5 stars, the same rating as the first film. They say the film is very entertaining, infact going on to say it’s more fun than Terminator Salvation, but again suffers from too much Bayhem, exemplified by the following quote:

Nor does his inability to keep his camera still or go two minutes without blowing shit up help, the hyperactivity reaching its nadir during a drawn-out climax in the Egyptian desert.

UPDATE: And another one is out, from Shiznit, who have given the film 4/5, and give an overly positive review.

UPDATE 2: ScifiNow have put up their review, which is overly harsh with a 2/5 score.

Cover for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Score

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Score CoverAmazon have posted the cover to the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Score. The cover features a close-up of Optimus Prime’s face, with the pyramids in the background, and another Michael Bay sunset!

The Score is again composer by Steve Jablonsky, and will just be a single disc affair. Look for the CD from the 23rd June, and expect it to probably be quite rare, just like the first movies version.

Brady Games Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Official Strategy GuideBrady Games, who seem to release strategy guides for nearly every game, including Transformers The Game in 2007, will also be providing an official guide for Activision’s follow up Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game.

The guide will help players through the Autobot and Decepticon single player campaigns, provide details on all the characters abilities, help players who venture into the online multiplayer modes and provide details on the games secrets, including unlockables like G1 cartoon episodes.

Interesting the book only covers the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 versions, but not the PC edition.

Look out for the book from 16th June and the actual game from 23rd June in North America and 26th June in Europe.

Transformers Audition Tapes from Paramount UK

After the success of the first film, every robot wanted to be in the sequel. Many, however, forgot that transforming is a crucial part of being a Transformer. Continuing their Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen promotions, Paramount UK have uploaded 5 audition tapes for robots that unfortunately didn’t quite make the final cut.

Look out for Drill Sargent Power, Freddy The Flame Grill, Mario The Espresso Machine, Vicki & Danielle The Styling Appliances and Hiro The Toy Robot.

Beware, there are some clips from the actual film during each video.

Transformers: Animated Vol 2, 3 & 4 DVDs out in UK Early

Written by Big Bot on | Animated,DVD,News,Paramount | Tags: ,

Play.com have decided to ship the three new DVD volumes of Transformers: Animated a week early in the UK.

Volume 2: Lost and Found, Vol 3: Megatron Rising and Vol: 4 Mission Accomplished all come curtiously of Paramount Home Entertainment, who have continued their lazy ways and have simply replaced parts of the packaging with new or reordered stock pictures of characters, static menus and absolutely no extra features, just like Vol 1: Blast From The Past.

Vol 2 contains episodes 5-8, Vol 3 episode 9-13, completing season 1, and Vol 4 episodes 14-17.

All three DVDs are rated PG by the BBFC and the Irish Film Censor.

Harry Potter Moves IMAX Date due to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

It seems Transformers is even bigger than we thought.  The IMAX version of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has now been delayed by 2 weeks from it’s original opening of 15th July. This is due to a deal between Paramount and IMAX, which gives Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen exclusive use of the IMAX cinemas for 4 weeks, starting from 24th June, in exchange for shooting scenes with the IMAX cameras, which is more expensive than traditional methods.

As you can imagine, many Potterfans are blaming Paramount for this, without considering the fact that it was Warner Brothers who pushed back the release date for Harry Potter 6 from November 2008 to Summer 2009, just to keep their balance sheet flowing. Now they are paying the price for trying to take on the robots in disguise!

You may also remember that Die Hard 4.0 moved from it’s original release date in 2007 to make way for Transformers. Expect Michael Bay to start boasting in 3..2..1..

Imax Version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to have Extended Cut

In Michael Bay’s latest forum post, he mentions that he has just about finished the film, with work continuing around the clock. He also mentions that the Imax version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be longer than the regular cinema cut.

Now unlike the first film, which was released in similar fashion, these extra scenes will not consist of bring human talking/being annoying, but will feature robot action in the four specially film Imax scenes. Just what we wanted to hear!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is out in the UK on 19th June, before everyone else!
